Questions?

message 2: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Edgar (amandaedgar) | 311 comments If I just signed up, can I backtrack using books I've read since the beginning of the year? Or only books completed from now on?

message 3: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Edgar (amandaedgar) | 311 comments Oh wait nvm, the challenge doesn't start until the 17th 😅

Great question Amanda! I will allow books started before the challenge provided you are no more than 25% done with the book before the 17th.

message 5: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 765 comments Is there a specific way you want our completion posts?

Also, if we are doing all 5 tasks, I'm assuming it's 5 different books, correct? So we would do a completion post for each book?

Sorry if I missed this somewhere.

message 6: by Erica, Quality Control Supervisor (new)

Erica | 5561 comments Mod
No, you didn't miss anything. Yes, one book per task. Choose your own format. Minimally, you should state book read, date read, and how it fits the task if not obvious. You may include author name, page count, rating and review if you are so moved.

message 7: by Jess (new)

Jess | 176 comments Are the Tasks released at a predetermined time or do you receive Task#2 prompts once Task #1 prompts are completed?

message 8: by Erica, Quality Control Supervisor (last edited Feb 18, 2026 12:17PM) (new)

Erica | 5561 comments Mod
I post new tasks to your thread when you finish your current set of tasks. Remember that moderators do not receive any notice when an existing post is updated. So a new post saying "done" or with your last book completion is needed or I won't know you're done.

message 9: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 765 comments I just realized that their are 2 Jamies playing. Jamie (TheRebelliousReader) and I.

Can we edit the name to add (TheRebelliousReader) to the one so that we can easily see the difference between them?

message 10: by Erica, Quality Control Supervisor (new)

Erica | 5561 comments Mod
Yes. I had changed her name to include that in the Participant link list but was lazy and didn't change the whole thing. It's done now. Sorry for any confusion.

message 11: by Jess (new)

Jess | 176 comments Are we allowed to use graphic novels/manga/etc for this challenge?

message 12: by Erica, Quality Control Supervisor (new)

Erica | 5561 comments Mod
Yes, but preferably on the longer side so that you actually wind up reading a fair amount.

Jess | 176 comments Erica wrote: "Yes, but preferably on the longer side so that you actually wind up reading a fair amount."

Is there a page count minimum that you prefer?

message 14: by Erica, Quality Control Supervisor (new)

Erica | 5561 comments Mod
This is really for you, so whatever your normal is works. To me, a book is at least 140 pp. long and usually over 200. But again, this is about you, not me.

message 15: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Edgar (amandaedgar) | 311 comments We don't need to post our completion posts anywhere but our thread right?

message 16: by Erica, Quality Control Supervisor (new)

Erica | 5561 comments Mod
Correct. Posting prompts now.

message 17: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 239 comments I'm sorry I'm not up to date with my lingo... what does MPG of adventure mean?

message 18: by Erica, Quality Control Supervisor (new)

Erica | 5561 comments Mod
That's Main Page Genre - so it comes up on the first page when you look up a book (although they don't show up on my phone - you need to be on a tablet or laptop to see all of a book's details).
No need to be sorry. All questions are good!

message 19: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (dani410) | 443 comments Question... Would this book count for "bones are visible on the cover"? Because of the skull?

The Waste Lands (The Dark Tower, #3) by Stephen King

message 20: by Erica, Quality Control Supervisor (new)

Erica | 5561 comments Mod
Hmmm... well, I was thinking more of bones made out of bone. So a skull would qualify, but this appears to be a skull-shaped metal (?) train engine. So not quite. Sorry!

Fair enough. Had to ask! Thanks!

message 22: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 765 comments The bone prompt is kicking my butt, lol. Would you accept antlers like on this cover The Road of Bones (The Ashen, #1) by Demi Winters

message 23: by Erica, Quality Control Supervisor (new)

Erica | 5561 comments Mod
Yes. You also have human skulls made of bone at the bottom!

HAHA I didn't even see that! perfect!

message 26: by Erica, Quality Control Supervisor (new)

Yes absolutely!

YAY, thank you!!

LaurLa | 4401 comments For the prompt 3. Read a book with a noble MC. (set 2 tasks), do you mean a nobleman like a duke, marquess, etc or do you mean someone who has the personality trait of being noble (kind, good-hearted, etc.) person?

message 29: by Erica, Quality Control Supervisor (new)

Erica | 5561 comments Mod
The year of the horse is associated with nobility, and I'll take that to mean nobility of character, since there have certainly been more than a few nobles by birth who were/are anything but noble.

Too true!!
Thanks for the quick response!!

Mrs W Woodruff | 1154 comments Does high intensity workout count for extreme endurance?

message 32: by Erica, Quality Control Supervisor (new)

Erica | 5561 comments Mod
Not really. Sorry. Endurance is more of a time-based thing. A high-intensity workout is not really a long workout because of its intensity. You want a character with legendary speed or endurance. The endurance does not necessarily have to pertain to a workout. There are many ways a person could have amazing endurance - like a parent who cares for a lot of kids and works and never stops. That is endurance in my book.

Gabby | 774 comments Do i really need to use tineye for colour over 50%? I am really struggling as it is telling me that browns are blacks and that reds are browns. It has made it incredibly difficult to find a cover for one of the challenges.

Rejected covers:
Wizard's Holiday (Young Wizards, #7) by Diane Duane Shielded Sun Mission 3 (Black Ocean Astral Prime) by J.S. Morin The Exorcist Code 3 Apocalypse (The Exorcist Code, #3) by William Massa Deepest, Darkest (The Oddmire, #3) by William Ritter A Ghostly Gift (Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries, #1.5) by Angie Fox DIRE WARS (The Dire Saga #4) by Andrew Seiple Dire Hell (The Dire Saga #6) by Andrew Seiple

I see what you mean, Gabby. To my eye, Dire Hell (The Dire Saga #6) by Andrew Seiple should work. I don't want this to be torture for anyone.

Thank you! That is the next one on my list if none of the others worked. :D Be nice to get to the next round in this challenge.
