Our Team Tracking Spreadsheethttps://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
You don't have to use this, completely up to you.
Using the tracking sheet
Add in all the info you can and when you read a book, just let us know in this thread it is read, but you don't need to include any detail as it is in the sheet.
If you don't want to use the tracking sheet
Then when you finish a book, add into THIS thread the book, date read, and then all the letters it may work for and why.
Reading for our cards
We don't need to "claim" any specific cards except the coloured. All the others please just read what you like and make notes of how your book may count. The more options we have the better! (Letters used in UNO are Z,O,T,H,F,I,V,E,S,N,K,P and of course if another team member has read the book before. Please friend our team members!)
Coloured covers
I will update our post above as you claim books for these
UNO shelves for colour cover ideas
red covers
blue covers
green covers
yellow covers
Alright team White Wedding — leather jackets on, bookmarks out. 🖤📚Hey you lot!
This is our 12th year of UNO, and if you’re new here, here’s the vibe: you can mostly read what you fancy, but the real magic is chatting with other players, swapping killer recommendations, and making the whole thing feel more like a backstage hang than a spreadsheet.
I’ve sent you all friend requests and I’ll PM you soon if Goodreads still lets me with the link to this thread so we can get everyone together. Please also add me on Discord if you have an account so that if I need to direct message you (for adding a book to a shelf, for example) we still have that ability through Discord even if GR is taking it away. My link is https://discord.gg/na6Y5bk9
Quick intro
I’m in Sydney, Aus, with my husband and two boys, and I run an HR consulting business. I’ll read almost anything except Horror.
Buzzing to play with you all — let’s make this one loud (in the best way). 🤘
P.S. Don’t forget to create your UNO shelf if you haven’t already.
Important (the “don’t get disqualified” section)
Only books STARTED after the challenge begins can count.
The challenge starts on 1 Feb, 2026 at 9am UTC.
Main cities, FYI:
San Francisco 1am
London 9am
New York 4am
Mumbai 2.30pm
Tokyo 6pm
Sydney 8pm
Books must be more than 100 pages in length.
If it’s a Childrens book or a graphic novel, we need to verify it’s more than 25,000 words on arbookfind.com.
Your finished books need to be on your Uno shelf AND marked as “read” for them to count.
Please make notes of how your book may count — the more options we’ve got, the more doors we can kick open.
Letters used in UNO are Z, O, T, H, F, I, V, E, S, N, K, P (and of course if another team member has read the book before).
Please friend our team members!
For coloured cards, the cover needs to be 50% or more of the colour.
You can ask us in this thread for our opinion, or use this colour tool: https://labs.tineye.com/color/
If in doubt, ask me or a co-captain — we can check it and/or take it to the captains group.
It is NOT required to use tineye.
This is a social challenge, not a competitive one. We’d love to get points, but the main aim is to have fun, read lots, and get to know each other 🙂
All the usual info is in the messages above. No need to claim a card, except for the coloured cards — if you’ve got one that fits, shout it out loud. 🎸📖
PS: I loved White Wedding when I was a teenager. And I have asked chat GPT to re-write this intro in Billy's style if you hadn't already guessed. 😉
Hi everyone!I’m Sophie, based about an hour outside London with my husband and our 2 munchkins. I am a GP so am used to juggling about a million things at once. The same as Karen, I’ll read anything but give horror a miss. I’m also not great with non-fiction.
Can’t wait to get started and have put on a playlist based on White Wedding to get me on the right frame of mind.
Sophie wrote: ". Can’t wait to get started and have put on a playlist based on White Wedding to get me on the right frame of mind.."Oh good idea! I will do the same. I wonder what it will bring up!
When I searched in Amazon music it gave me “iconic 80s party”. Fun!https://music.amazon.com.au/playlists...
Hi EveryoneI’m Deb from a seaside town in South Australia, where I live with my husband and our pup, Reggie. I have two daughters in their twenties. I have my own commercial mortgage broking business which keeps me busy.
I love reading but am still working full time so don’t get to read as much as I’d like.
I’ll read anything but still not quite convinced that fantasy is for me.
Looking forward to getting started - I have a pile of books ready to go!!
I am also of the age where White Wedding was a favourite of mine and already features in my Spotify playlist.
Hi Deb!I've just spent an hour the phone with our mortgage broker sorting out our renewal so thank you for keeping everyone on top of it! So much to think through.
Hi Everyone,I'm Dhruti from India. I am 29, and live with my mom and my younger sister. I am moody reader, and my first time in this challenge.
Welcome to UNO Dhruti, hopefully you’ll have a lot of fun with us. Please ask any questions- Karen and I have been doing challenges for at least 10 years each and have run several so should be able to answer any questions (or if not we know who to ask!).
Hi everyone!I’m Lori and live in Cambridgeshire. I work as a Business Analyst in the housing department of a London Council. I read most genres but mostly mysteries, historical and fantasy.
I am very happy to be on the White Wedding team. I love a bit of Billy Idol. Also, I’m currently rewatching Buffy, the Vampire Slayer and as any fan knows Billy Idol got his look from Spike.
Hi Lori!I miss living in Cambridgeshire. Now in Kent which is still good.
Somehow I’ve never watched Buffy - too many books to read instead!
Hi all! I'm Sharon from Pennsylvania in the US. I've participated in UNO a bunch of times before and am looking forward to being on a team with you all! I love these challenges because they always help jumpstart my reading.
I usually read romance, mystery, thriller, fiction. I tend to stay away from fantasy, science fiction, or horror. I'm also a sucker for a good celebrity memoir. I just finished My Next Breath by Jeremy Renner.
Love the idea of a playlist! Something fun to listen to while I work from home :)
*yawn*Good morning!
Welcome Deb. I had intended a driving holiday to the Barossa this year but our friends who where coming with us weren't able to in the end. So now we are headed to Japan instead 😁
Hi Dhruti. This is the perfect challenge for a moody ready as there aren't many requirements and most books can fit for our cards.
Hi Lori - We mostly read the same genres, I think. I just did compare books and it says:
LoriLovesBooks’s books: 1596 (1229 not in common)
Books in common: 367 (17.54% of your library and 11.94% of her library)
My books: 2092 (1725 not in common)
Your tastes are 84% similar for the books you both rated.
Looks like I know where to go to for Reverse books for Uno! haha
Hi Sharon! That memoir sounds interesting, I have to say his name wasn't familiar to me at all. But I did enjoy The Hurt Locker. I really loved The Woman in Me and Unbearable Lightness: A Story of Loss and Gain and would recommend them if you haven't read them yet.

Thanks! I have read the Woman in Me, but have not read Unbearable Lightness. I'll have to check it out!
Hi everyone. Great to see previous team mates here again and excellent to be in your team Karen!I'm in Canberra, retired so lots of reading time. I read pretty much anything and have these challenges to thank for making me pick up books I never would have opened. My favourite genres are crime and historical but over the last few years have been making a point of reading or rereading classics.
Ooh and I have a Red 8.
Hey Everyone, Checking in! This is my 11th Year on Karen's UNO team.. and I think we have even won one.. or gone close. Karen can confirm or deny, LOL.
Great to be playing again with some old friends and new team mates. I'm a mother of 3, grand mother of 6 and do admin for our family farming business in NSW, Australia. Also a full time carer for my adult son with Autism. When I get a spare minute I love reading and reading challenges, nothing I like more than reading for some obscure task or finding a colour cover. My other passion is travelling - and this year my sister and I are travelling to Sophie's neck of the woods with a driving holiday of Sussex and Kent. So I'll need some not to miss tips.
And Buffy the Vampire Slayer is my most favourite TV show, ever.
Happy reading everyone!
My first read for the Challenge is
- which fits Red 2 - Book 2 in a series
Red 3 - Author first name Hannah
Red 8 - Character first name - Evie
Put it where it fits best.
Hey Lisa 👋Yes I think we won once! Although with five WD4s in round 1 I’m wondering if the randomiser is being kind to us this year? 😊🎉
When is your trip?
I’m headed to Thailand with a friend as we both turn a largish number this year🤭- so we are heading away together for ten days 🤭
Actual family holiday is Japan in September. I’ve been doing duoligo for a year and I’m starting a night course with uni of qld next week 🤩

Heading to the UK end of April.
I did Japan in 2024 and some members of my family are just back this week. They did some hiking in Southern Honshu then went to see the Snow Monkeys which I had real FOMO cause I didn't see them when I went. Japan is the No 1 holiday spot for Aussies at the moment and we all had such a great time on our trips. Your boys would love one of the Team Labs, they're 2 in Tokyo and also one in Kyoto I think. It's a great place for a family holiday.
Hubs and I went to Thailand for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Another great place for a holiday. Happy travelling.

Good to be playing with you again Elisabeth! I just went through Canberra on my way back to Sydney. The weather was foul on the Hume.
Yes with everything happening in the US we changed our plans from there to Japan. Being only 10 hours it is very easy and I think also so easy to get around which is making it so popular! Seeing the snow monkeys would have been amazing. I don’t blame you for having fomo!I lived in Thailand in 2009 and have travelled around it a lot (then and in the years since). It is my favourite place :)

- Author Gill Hornby"According to the reviews it is either amazing or terrible. Looking forward to your thoughts as I am intrigued!!
Sharon - that sounds interesting especially if it touches on the time after his injuries (I think he was in a quad bike crash).Hello again Elisabeth and Lisa!
Lisa - the majority of my days out at the moment are child themed! Depending on what you are interested in, Dover Castle (has been around from Roman times and has a lot of WW2 displays) and Hever Castle (one of Henry VIII wives grew up there, lovely gardens) are great. There are a mammoth number of very pretty villages with great pubs and walks locally. On a literary theme, the village of Hartfield and the Ashdown Forest are where Winnie the Pooh was written and based on and Bateman's is the home of Rudyard Kipling.
Depending on how many country houses and gardens you want to go to, it might work out cheaper to buy a National Trust membership as they have a large number of places to visit in Kent, Sussex and Surrey.
The coast is stunning with the cliffs, but I suspect the beaches are not a patch on those in Oz.
Loads of people from the UK are heading to Japan as well! Seems to be the place to go. On my list of one day once the kids are a bit older (8 and 5 means we are sticking relatively close to home for now). Snow monkeys would be incredible to see.Should probably look for some colour covers soon...

Thanks Sophie!
That confirms quite a few on my list. Good tip about the National Trust, I joined quite a few years ago and I asked my sister to join for the upcoming trip. We're also taking the car ferry to the Isle of Wight, I'm really looking forward to seeing Osbourne House, Queen Victoria's home.
And in regards to Billy Idol, I loved his cameo in The Wedding Singer, the Adam Sandler/Drew Barrymore movie.
Especially the bit in the plane when the big guy says - "Don't talk to Billy Idol that way!" Classic 90's comedy.

Yes definitely one of my favourite movies and now our kids love it too. They particularly love Adam Sandler so we have been going through all of his back catalogue. But when he sings “somebody kill me please” as Robbie in Wedding Singer it cracks me up every time and has become a favourite moment for the kids too 🤭
Actually my ten year old has applied for Hard Quiz Kids with his special topic of “Happy Gilmore” haha. Will see if he gets an audition
That all sounds so nice, Sophie!!I took my ten year old to watch “Six” the musical and now he is fascinated by Henry VIII 😊 I would love to go back to the UK and Europe some day. It is just such a looooooong way. Maybe in a few years 😬

Ah... I remember the Adam Sandler fests. My oldest son absolutely loved Happy Gilmore, he's 37 now and passing on the torch to his own kids, LOL.
I love Hard Quiz as well. Cool topic, I hope he makes it on.
Haha that’s great, Lisa.He really has the perfect comedy for that tween/teen group and they are great fun for parents too
I've found some coloured covers that I can read in Feb:
- 2 Red
- 3 Red
- 3 YellowI have updated message 4 with what we have so far
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
We can use my red 8 as a wild draw 4 or I can put it off for another round. I think it has a 3 character as well.

If you want tips on any of the ones on your list, just shout. I grew up on the Kent/Sussex border so I should be able to help. Osborne House is wonderful and the Isle of Wight is very relaxed generally. If you are that way and can see the New Forest (which in typical British style has been called that since about 1080!) it's beautiful too.
I feel like my 8 year old would be a fan of Adam Sandler, but I want to wait a bit longer for that introduction!Karen - good luck to your son getting onto the Hard Quiz.

I want to go see that! If you ever do make it this way, then be sure to let me know.
Lisa - if your itinerary allows for a coffee, then I can make that work too!
Meeting GR people in RL is good fun, especially when I've been talking to you on and off for over 10 years.
Sophie wrote: "Karen ⊰✿ wrote: "That all sounds so nice, Sophie!!I took my ten year old to watch “Six” the musical and now he is fascinated by Henry VIII 😊 I would love to go back to the UK and Europe some day...."
That is so kind of you Sophie. It is a strange thing how you can "know" people from all over the world through Goodreads competitions and never "know" them. It's actually the internet for good, LOL.
My sister is a keen hiker, me not so much although I'm always up for a stroll around a historic house or garden. I'm really hoping to see the bluebell woods while we are there, I was over a couple of years ago in late May and just saw the tail end of them. Where do you think the good ones are in your experience? And I think my sister wants to do some walking to see the Seven Sisters cliffs around Eastbourne. We're just putting together the itinerary now.
This is what I found from my TBR.3 Red -
- Book #3 in series7 Yellow -
- "Seven" in Title 5 Green -
- Title letter "F"
