Lark of The Bookwyrm's Hoard (lark_bookwyrmshoard) | 36 comments When trying to add Spell Songs by Robert MacFarlane (& others) to my Goodreads shelves, I discovered that it was mistakenly listed as an edition of The Lost Words, also by MacFarlane. The full title of Spell Songs is The Lost Words: Spell Songs, so it's easy to see how the mistake occurred. (Note that the new cover just says Spell Songs; that is true of my personal copy and can also be seen on the Amazon page for this book at https://www.amazon.com/Lost-Words-Spe... . The GR page, which matches the ISBN for this book, has an older cover where the title is The Lost Words: Spell Songs.)

The Lost Words: Spell Songs differs from The Lost Words (an earlier book) in significant ways. Spell Songs is a book and CD of songs inspired by MacFarlane's earlier book, The Lost Words. Spell Songs does not include the original text of The Lost Words. Rather, the first half of Spell Songs is about the making of the music and the artists who both wrote and performed the songs. The second half is the lyrics to those songs. Both parts of the book are illustrated.

As a GR Librarian, I was successful in separating out The Lost Words: Spell Songs from the multitude of editions of The Lost Words. However, the Goodreads URL for The Lost Words: Spell Songs is https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4... . For clarity's sake, and to prevent the book from being mistakenly combined with editions of the original The Lost Words, I think that the words "spell-songs" should really be added to the URL for The Lost Words: Spell Songs.

If whoever takes care of that could also add the new cover either as the default cover or an alternative cover, I think that would also help to avoid confusion.

Thank you

Scott | 12550 comments The URL cannot be manually edited. It may be generated from how the title of the book is listed, but I am not sure that it would change even if we changed the title.

You can leave a librarian note on the record that it shouldn't be combined with the other work.

David Raz (davidraz) | 13887 comments If you wish to add the new cover, create an ACE. That's what they are for.
In any case, none of this has anything to do with superlibrarians. Try the various Questions folders if you have any questions.
