Hallo Cydney
Very well --I can set most of this in motion without any further input.
As the date draws near, you would then add the following
...to a release announcement written by you (or Dee) in our section called 'Author Promo'
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
As I said, Goodreads is making things like this harder. Very frustrating.
If it is all completely bewildering to you, I can create the announcement to demonstrate how it's done.
But it is so much better if the news comes from you or Dee, so that when readers reply, they are replying to you directly rather than myself.

Hi there Feliks,
I have just joined your group and as a new author I would like to promote my book. I have read the 5 points in the Author Promo discussion and just need a way to contact you.
Hoping to hear from you,
Stephen
Hallo Stephen
Welcome aboard. I extend my congrats to you on your book release. Authoring a novel is no easy feat. It's an achievement to be proud of.
Next: I appreciate you reviewing our group guidelines. That was certainly the right thing to do.
One thing to bear in mind though is that those author tools I designed, were all something from years ago, when Goodreads' groups (like this one), were powerful aids to help spread industry news.
It's all changed in the interim. I will still lend support but more toned-down in scale.
The lion's share of the PR, rests with authors, in the diminished state-of-things nowadays.
So: feel free to create a book announcement in our 'Author Promo' section. You can update us on your release as often as every three weeks.
That's also where you can inform us of price-drops, specials, giveaways, or reviews you've received.
In every other regard, I can derive enough from your author page to 'feature' the title in our group, promoting it to the level appropriate for Goodreads these days. You may notice some activity.
But I suggest you avail yourself of Goodreads' dedicated author/publishing forums; to strategize with other new writers.
Also be aware too, of sites like these:
...to ensure your net is cast as wide as possible!
Good luck!
Feliks

Feliks - unsure what still does and doesn't work in GR, but saw your note on a forum member living in Taiwan...I'm not there anymore, but I did live there a total of 19 years in several spurts between 1978 and 2006. Is there anything I can do to help, or information I can provide. Cheers, Phil

Hi, this is "cool breeze" responding to your message about living in Asia. I wasn't born there, but I have traveled there quite a bit and now live there 6 months a year (currently stateside). Please leave me a better way to contact you if you want to follow up.
Cowabunga. Thanks Breeze! To sync up: can you name a time of day today when you are --for sure --at your keyboard for a little while?
I'm on east coast USA time zone. Once I know you're ready, I'll drop a disposable email address here. Since they only last one hour, that's why I'm asking when you might be available.
Darn Goodreads anyway...totally Rube Goldberg ,..

I lived there a long time, but am sadly back home now and aside from the occasional trip to Taipei to see (my wife's) family, we rarely get back there now 😥

I am interested in increasing the time I spend there from 6 months, but I have to figure out the tax consequences. Thailand considers all your income subject to their income tax if you spend more than 180 days in a calendar year there.
