I couldn't find any 'official' place to ask this so I hope its in the right spot.

In my younger years I read an awesome hard scifi but I can't remember its name or author. I am hoping someone else can! I can remember only a few things about it, and that I really liked it. But here goes.

It's illegal to be ugly, the protagonist wakes next to a girl who looks 15 but is much much older and it describes the possibility that she might not have even been female originally. You rent bandwidth. Computers are the size of planets. The protagonist seeks answers...
