I was just attempting to add a new book to Goodreads and found the ISBN has been taken by an entirely different and unrelated item.

I was attempting to add Rîbnița însângerată, with the ISBN10 of 6306657126 and the ISBN13 9786306657124, as per this request: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

When I went to save it, I found that 6306657126 and 9786306657124 were taken by Baby Know-It-All2, a VHS video added in 2023 and since set to Deleted. Refer https://www.goodreads.com/book/edit/1...

Could someone please further delete (i.e., totally eradicate) Baby Know-It-All2 (which appears to be a movie on VHS, and is therefore a non-book item not permitted on Goodreads), so I can add the book.

(As an aside, could I just overwrite the video entry with the details of the book? I thought about doing this but thought I should refer to higher powers, lest this breach the rules.)

David Raz (davidraz) | 13958 comments There is no way to delete the existing edition. However, nothing was stopping you from taking over it. Since the original was NOT A BOOK. Done: Rîbnița însângerată. Mărturii din acele zile

albie_of_nonfic | 823 comments Thanks David.

Wasn't sure about the propriety of hijacking existing details and repurposing them (i.e., leaving the ISBN alone and changing everything else). I take it from this that doing so is OK.
