Regular Squares
1. Colors
Each player must read a book with a different cover color. The main color must count for 50% of the book's cover. No repeat colors.

2. Release Year
Each player must read a book published in a different consecutive year. For example: if your team chooses 2015-2021, then each player must read a book published in a different year. One from 2015, one from 2016, one from 2017, and so on.

3. 2025 Award Season.
Each player must read a book that was nominated for any award in 2025.

4. 2024 Award Season.
Each player must read a book that was nominated for any award in 2024.

5. Read a mythology retelling.

6. Read a book where a house/ building/ setting is such an integral part of the book that it becomes almost as important as one of the main characters. Some examples would be The Library of the Unwritten or The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle.

7. Read a book with subject matter that intimidates you.

8. Read a book with a flower name in the title.

10. Read a holiday novel
Each player must read a book with a different holiday. Only 2 players can read a book featuring a scene about the same holiday. Made up holidays count.

11. No One
Each player must read a book with no human or humanoid person on the cover. This includes any body parts.

12. Weapons
Each player must read a book with a common weapon on the cover. Only 2 players can read a book with the same weapon, but they must be different books. It must be a common weapon, not just an item that could be a weapon in the right hands.

13. Domestic
Each player must read a book with a common domestic house pet on the cover. Only 2 players can read a book with the same animal on it, but they must be different books. Any domestic house pet that you can take to a general practice vet that weighs less than 200lbs: dog, house cat, rabbit, hamster, guinea pigs, gerbils, small fish, birds, and small reptiles.

14. Wild
Each player must read a book with a different wild animal on the cover. Only 2 players can read a book with the same animal on it, but they must be different books.

15. Romance

19. Eurostar
Read a book that takes place in one of the five countries that the Eurostar goes through. UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands, and Germany. There can only be repeats once each country is represented.

20. I-5
Read a book that takes place in one of the states along the I-5. Washington, Oregon, and California. There can only be repeats once each state is represented.

21. I-95
Read a book that takes place in one of the states along I-95. Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine, plus a brief stretch in the District of Columbia. There can only be repeats once each state is represented.

22. I-80
Read a book that takes place in one of the states along I-80. California, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. There can only be repeats once each state is represented.

23. You Choose. Each player can read whatever they would like.

24. Less than 5
Read a book from an author who has 5 or less published books. They can be published in any means, traditional or otherwise.

25. Judging by the cover
Read a book based solely on how you feel about the cover.

26. Hive mind
All team members must read a book written by the same author.

27. Adapted
Read a book that has been adapted into a film/play/TV show.

28. We are all allies here
Each player must read a book about a character who is LGBTQIA+. This book can be any genre..

29. Around the World
Each player must read a book that takes place in a different country. Each continent must be represented. Antarctica is optional.

30. 5 Star
Each player must select another player from their team. They will then need to read a 5 star read from the other player's shelf. No doubling up, each team member must be represented on both ends of the spectrum.

31. What we have in common
Each player must select another player from their team. No doubling up, each team member must be represented on both ends of the spectrum. You will then need to go in and pick a book that you and that other player have in common. To do this go to that player's profile, select more, then select compare. Pick a book from that list. Re-reads are allowed, but not mandatory.

MP 5. Taste Test
Each player must read a non cookbook that has a recipe in it. You will then need to make that recipe, and rate it. If you cannot/ do not want to cook the recipe, you must find a book where a very specific food is central to the plot. It cannot be food in general, but one or two very specific dishes/ ingredients. It can be something that the MC makes, is looking for, or shares with others. But it must be integral to the plot. Some examples are The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake, The School of Essential Ingredients, and Sourdough. Bonus points for going out and trying the item. (But not really, because there are no bonus for me to give, other than my genuine hope that you enjoyed yourself)

Each player must read a book that is written from the perspective of a “bad guy”. Some examples would be: a member of a biker gang, a serial killer, a street gang member, a mafia member, a bully, a stalker, a thief, a demon, a warlock, or any other traditional villain you can think of.
