Hello Paul,
I'm Rebekah. I work as a corporate travel agent, live in western MIchigan, US...married 3 kids...speak French (was my major - I use it sometimes).
love to travel of course, that is why I'm in this business, but I feel you can travel more effectively sometimes with a book than you can a plane. I've been to the UK a few times fortunately enough! Very nice place, well from what I've seen (London and Edinburgh). Nice to meet you.

Hello everyone, thanks for the invite Em. I just read Stephen King's 'Pet Sematary' a few days back and when I saw the group's book of the month, I had to join.
Hi everyone, i'm Lori and i piggybacked from Paul. Not a whole lot to tell really, been reading Stephen King sence someone gave me the first Gunslinger book. And i to i'm a fanatic over him & Dean Koontz. Looking forward to sharing. :)
Hey, everyone! I'm Kathy and I have been a huge horror fan for ages! I am 40 (gasp!) and a single mother of 2 boys. I am a manager at a local independent bookstore on Long Island. My faves are Stephen King and Richard Matheson....and recently Joe Hill. I'm really anxious to get to know everyone and get some new recommendations!
Hello to all. My name is Michelle and I was invited to the group by Em. Thanks honey! I am a stay a home mom, wife, a Realtor, and an Accounting student. I also work part-time as a private tutor and SES tutor. And amongst all of that, I find time to read, rock out, and watch great movies. Looking forward to sharing ideas, recommendations and great conversations. I've been reading horror books since my teenage years and go through my phases of catching up on classics and popular fiction, but scary stuff always catches my interest. I am a moderator of another great Goodreads group, DARK FICTION. Feel free to check us out! Take care everyone.
Hi everyone, Im Ben. I started this group cause I was tired of trying to find a horror group and then finding the groups reading stuff like the Twilight Series. Im a fan of true horror, not vampires made kid friendly, so I decided to start a new group devoted to true horror, and not the kid friendly stuff that seems to be popular these days. I'm 35 and self employed, and with the ambitions of someday becoming a writer myself.
I can totally relate, Ben! I want to be scared and possibly grossed out! lol. I do like a wide range of books, but I always come back to scary!
Btw, Michelles group Dark Fiction (http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/2... a great group too. Not so much horror, but almost always have great reads. If your unfamiliar with what dark fiction is, think The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Or go to this thread: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
Benjamin wrote: "Btw, Michelles group Dark Fiction (http://www.goodreads.com/group)/show/... a great group too. Not so much horror, but almost always have great reads. If your unfamiliar with what ..."I loved Shadow Of The Wind! Good book! I'll check out the group, thanks! :)
Thanks for the props Ben. Actually, horror is my favorite genre and I go through periods of time (work, school, LIFE) where I can't read as much as I'd like to. I'm getting back into reading a lot more horror, so there should be more horror there soon!
Shaun:I don't know about Barker's book, but TGB is EXCELLENT, and I'd love to hear your input, especially with your focus on Children's Lit.
Hi everyone,Im Ryan and am in troubled upstate NY.I have enjoyed reading for as long as I can remember and have been mostly into the horror genre, although latley I have tried to read some different kinds of books and found I can actually like something els.My Favorite books to date has to be The Dark Tower Series,I loved it,and still go back and reread it when I can.My favorite author is the late great Richard Laymon. There is not enough good things to say about this mans work.I have enjoyed everything he has put out and each one left me wanting and searching for more. Thanks for the invite to the group,I look forward to hearing some good recomendations from you all.
Hello Everybody! So nice to meet you. Welcome to the group! We're...so...glad...you're...HERE! muahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaa :)
Hi Benjamin, just wondering if your going to have a poll for the first book and/or movie for the new year?
Well, actually, I joined probably a few weeks ago. Invited by Em. I'm a big horror fan, and I read other things besides. Stephen King is one of my favs. I'm 26, live in Florida with my husband and 3 birds.

But to each his own. Welcome aboard! :)
Hi everyone. I'm new so I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Pam and I love horror stories. I just finished reading The Historian and it made me feel like I need to read the original Dracula. After all the different Dracula movies I've seen, and I'm just now actually picking up the book. lol
Pam wrote: "Hi everyone. I'm new so I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Pam and I love horror stories. I just finished reading The Historian and it made me feel like I need to read the original Dracu..."I love the classics including Bram Stoker, Edgar Allan Poe and Mary Shelley

Hi Everyone! My pen name is Alice V. I write fantasy, horror and erotica (of course won't post anything erotic on here though!). I'm unpublished but brushing up my finished manuscript to send to publishers. I have a website that features several short stories I've written so far (www.alicev.net.) I read just about every genre because I believe in not limiting myself to one kind of inspiration.
I am Pamela K. Kinney, and I write horror, scifi, fantasy, poetry and non fiction ghost books. My latest published horror is a collection of short stories, Spectre Nightmares and Visitations in print and as an eBook, too.I also read the scary stuff, too.
Hello Pamela and Alice, Tom - everyone!
This group seems to be languishing, sadly. We should revive it! Welcome and let's see if we can get things moving again.
Any thoughts on what to read next?

Hi Rebekah!I'm not reading any horror right now. Was reading HP Lovecraft but am a little side tracked with other stuff and had to put the book on hold. I like real horror and not that Twilight type BS that everyone is doing. Make me scared, make me think, make me want to sleep with the lights on at night!
Alice - AMEN! I'm up for some Lovecraft. I'm scared to admit this publicly, but I have yet to read anything by him. What title are you working on? Maybe we can pick that up.
Rebekah wrote: "Alice - AMEN! I'm up for some Lovecraft. I'm scared to admit this publicly, but I have yet to read anything by him. What title are you working on? Maybe we can pick that up."Right now reading "Bloodcurling Tales of Horror and Macabre." Pretty good. I like the first story, "The Rats in the Walls." I read 3 of the stories so far in the book. Nothing too scary...yet. I can see why he's so revered in the horror world. He wrote his stories during a time when the genre wasn't popular at all. In fact, I think it's safe for me to say that his writing is original, inspirational, and a testament to the man's imagination.
Hello all! I'm Leiko, and though I sadly have nothing published (yet), I do love to write sci-fi, horror, fantasy and thrillers. I love Lovecraft, Poe, Mary Shelley, and all the classics though I'm only beginning to get into more modern day horror. So... uh... Nice to meet everyone.
Hi guys! i m glad to be part of this group.i m a big fan of horror books and movies.i m sure my time here will be graet fun!!
Hello my name's Emily, i'm new to the horror genre so i feel a group dedicated to horror seems a good place to start. The first horror i ever read was Misery by Stephen King and more recently The Harrowing by Alexandra Sokoloff.
Ave. :)I'm not really new to the genre, but like Emily I thought that this group should be a good way to start. I can't remember my first horror book....maybe it was Suffer the Children by John Saul. It's just too long ago..I do find it hard to find a good Horror book, because they are not really scary. Maybe someone can recommend something?

Eleanor, not much happens on this list... you might like "Horror Aficionados" instead. Lots of conversations going on.
