I just noticed that a book seems to have been deleted from goodreads, and I wanted to try to get to the bottom of the mystery.

The book is Intervention XI: The Putin Files, Excursions Around The Ideology Of Pain by Wole Soyinka.

Soyinka has several books from major publishers, but his Interventions series is through BookCraft and is (as I understand it), basically print on demand. I tried to add the other Interventions titles and organize them into a series, but now I see that his eleventh entry has disappeared from goodreads. Why is that? Is it because the book is not sold on amazon possibly? Is it a political thing? If, as it appears, the book has been deleted, is there a record of that - possibly with some explanation?

On a related note, I wonder who has the authority to delete books in goodreads. I have frequently wanted to delete CDs under Bob Dylan's goodreads page, but I couldn't figure out how.

Please provide the ISBN or ASIN for the book in question so we can research it. Once a book has been marked as Deleted, we can only access it by an ISBN or ASIN search.

Goodreads librarians, superlibrarians, and staff have the authority to delete editions under certain circumstances. This is explained in the Librarian Manual. Music CDs should be marked as "Invalid," which has replaced the procedure formerly known as NAB, or Not A Book.

I found a book with that title and ISBN 9789786013640, which was marked as Invalid by a bot. I've reverted this change: The Putin Files: Excursions Around the Ideology of Pain.

If you have a different edition, please let us know the ISBN/ASIN and we'll look into it.
