Javier (palchetti) | 33513 comments I came across a request for a Mexican magazine (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...). The main theme of this particular issue is the Gothic movement in Latin America. I checked the .pdf version and about 70% of it is dedicated to literature (several literary essays, 2-3 short stories and an interview to Mariana Enriquez) while the remaining 30% deal with non-literary topics such as architecture, art, music and politics.

My first question would be, is that item be eligible?

I also noticed that many issues of this magazine are already in the database, added by both librarians and non-librarians. Now I haven't checked all of them (there are over 60 entries) but many appear to have little or nothing to do with literature. Instead, they focus on unrelated topics such as imperialism, drugs or the EZLN.

Which leads me to my second question: If a magazine is generally non-literary in nature, but one or more individual issues are literature-focused, is it acceptable to add those specific issues to the database?

Hi Javier - according to policy, only the specific literature-focused editions should be added. Other issues that focus on non-literary topics should not be in the Goodreads catalog.
