Lesle | 389 comments Movie: The Passion of the Christ - Christ's crucifixion, based on the New Testament

When this came out I wanted to see it but could not go by myself. I asked Mom to go with me as she was my go to Knowledgeable Layperson. I have a good knowledge myself but my thought processes is sometimes different enough to need a clearer meaning.

I have never in my life cried so hard in public at a theater before. I mean I hurt, the rack of chest heaves. I had a hard time controlling them.
I felt horrified for what Mother Mary was going through with some support from Mother Mary's sister Mary and Mary Magdalene. But...to witness what your Son was going through and what he went through shook me hard. (My Son was 15 at the time.)

The movie, I thought followed the New Testament quite well and brought the words to reality better than I ever could imagine.

Afterwards I asked Mom her thoughts and she was like "You've read that part (of the Bible) what did you think. We finally got to where I felt like we were on the same thought process, she threw in..."Different when your a Mom yourself?"

If your heart can manage this movie, I highly recommend it.
If you want a non-visual experience there is nothing better than The Holy Bible: King James Version or whichever you prefer.

It sounds like it was a very intense experience Lesle. Watching your son die in such a way would be horrific and a testimony to the film makers that you could feel Mary's grief so strongly.

I have never repeated such a feeling before or again.
Do not get me wrong I tear up and they roll down my face often but that experience was heart wrenching.
I mean our Elders at church always tried to explain it was harsh but never to that degree and from what I talked to the Elders about afterwards it did not even compare.

From what I understand "The Chosen" a TV series about His life but from the ones that knew Him. Is also really good. IMDb rates it 9.1/10

B needs coffee I know what you mean Lesle! The Passion of the Christ as graphic and heartbreaking as it is to watch, shows me what true unconditional love is.
