HiI found a book cover on Imgur that claims to be Gilibloie's work.
I've deleted one version of a quote that was corrected to another, but I don't feel comfortable deleting the rest.
Does another librarian have an opinion?

Let me guess, this "book"? https://imgur.com/gallery/gullible-hi...
Does that look like a book from the 18th century to you? Also, see the title, which hints towards it's all a lie.

And the investigation from Wikipedia administrators on this croww-wiki hoax campaign: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikiped...
The story about this person and his alleged wife Erika Krogseter (sometimes written Erica), with absolutely no evidence that have existed, was spread on multiple platforms: several language versions of Wikipedia, multiple language versions of Wikiquote, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Reddit, Mainchan, Imgur, Instagram etc.
There were also other blatant lies posted by the same users. A plant named "Erika Krogseter", then on one language version she was a tennis player of present day.

Hi EEE
You may not realise this, but I am a volunteer - same as all the other librarians. Very few librarians work with quotes & none of them have wanted to give an opinion.
Like I said, I don't feel comfortable dealing with this & I can't take action against other users. No librarian has access to that part of this site.

In the last weeks, Wikipedia articles about this Yuri Gilibloie have popped up on various language versions, and his name + claimed info have been added to various articles at least on en-Wiki and de-Wiki. The photo used in Wikipedia articles is a painting, where the original photo of the painting clearly states that the person depicted is unknown.
There’s also recent Reddit posts about this person, and I have found the same photo uploaded to Imgur claiming it to be Yuri Gilibloie, as well as some social media content. It is however impossible to find anything published about this person that’s older than a couple of weeks / a month old. I find that very hard to believe, for a French philosopher that is said to have been born in 1708 with unknown date of death.
The Wikipedia articles even claim that George Orwell and Louis Armstrong were influenced by this Gilibloie!
This is most likely an organized hoax! For what purpose, I have absolutely NO idea, but I really think the quotes should be deletd from Goodreads. Some of the Wikipedia content have tried using the Goodread quotes as a source.
