Ok this may be a dumb question, but as someone who has never read or watched it, why is Twilight so hated/controversial? I don’t want to search it up in fear of spoilers (not sure if I’ll ever read it, but just in case) but I’m curious for y’all’s honest thoughts.
I don’t actually know much about it but I know people hateeee it.

I think that, for the movies, the acting really "ruins" the mood. But for me it gives me a sort of nostalgia :')
And for the books I think that the people judging the story only watched the movies, so they think it's like worn out.
IDK if it was very clear, but anyway I really think that it's a good story and it brings me a really good vibe :)

Personally, I find that there is always hate for anything in media that teenage girls/young women are the forces behind making successful. The books are great; the movies are as well (though they take on different meanings as plots & characters are adapted from book-film.) I think the actors did a fantastic job playing out these characters. Ex: Robert Pattinson is great at becoming a tragic, pessimistic, creepy vampire stalker who falls in love with a human (the very thing he is designed to kill.)

The books are worth the read! You will find heavy purity culture themes at times because Stephanie Meyer is a religious white woman who couldn't help herself, I guess. The books are wayy better for Edward and Bella's relationship, because it shows them fall in love. The movies can make Bella, and their relationship as a whole, boring at times. There is a lot of intensity, but the movies are extremely lacking in their playful banter, discussions of morality, and their overall compatibility.

Short answer: Yes! Read them! (Then movie marathon!)
