Boxall's 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die discussion

For those who have read both War and Peace and Anna Karenina - is it worth it to read them both? It took me 4 months to read War and Peace a few years back, and at the time I figured if I had read one long Tolstoy I didn't need to read the other one. But now I am reconsidering. Are they different enough to be worth slogging through the other one? Is Anna Karenina just a story about one unhappy woman's life, or is there more to it?
