I created a spreadsheet that will give everyone a list of their books that match a certain series number, or publication year using goodreads export.Free feel the share this with your teams if you think it would be useful
A short run down:
If you are going to use the spreadsheet please go to file -> make a copy. This way you have your personal copy.
This spreadsheet can take your goodreads export, copy and paste the title into the orange shaded area, then copy and paste the author, page number, and publication year starting with author in the yellow. Making sure not to shift lines.
I removed all the read books from the export prior to copy and pasting. You also have to do some data clean up because Goodreads does not keep the same formatting for all books.
The title line in orange should be formatted: Name of Book (Series Name, Series#) If it's formatted that way it should be pretty good about pulling the correct fields.
On the Challenge Corner Page you can ignore (or hide) columns A-H, these are for other type challenges. Column J and L you input the number you are looking for and it will bring up all the books in your TBR that work for that rule.
If you have questions I can hopefully help. I left a couple of my tbr in there as an example. Feel free to delete those.

You're both welcome! I like book challenges that help me get through my TBR, not where I'm forever looking for things that qualify. So I though I'd share =)To export on a computer you go to My Books -> on the left hand side at the very bottom of the list of your shelves will be a subgroup called Tools. The last in the list is Import and Export. Click that and at the top you can export your library. This could take some time depending on how many books you have read/to read. Once it's done it will have a blue line stating Your Export with the date.
Click and that and it will download all your books and open with a spreadsheet program.
I recommend converting it to a table, sorting by the exclusive shelf column and highlighting all the books you've read. If you need more help with that let me know.
I'll look and see if I can export on my phone, but it would be much harder copy and pasting with a phone. It does not look like you are able to export on a phone.
HELP !!!!.....Captains: In you Google Sheet under the Rules tab, there is a section for the captains. It has a script that you can copy and past every week.....
Ive been on this page and there is a line thar says captains in a teal colour ..Is something supposed to happen if i click on it ...i cant find this script Fredicka is on about

The scripts are collapsed so on the left side is the plus sign to click on to open it up or close it again, if that makes sense. Sorry, I am not very spreadsheet savvy with what things are called.It's basically what was posted in the answers thread in the battle sequence thread in the game night group.
I think I am very daft, so I apologize. Where do I find that spreadsheet that is referenced? I feel like I have read every thread in all of the groups (team, main, and here), but I can't find this spreadsheet. I feel like it is different than the one Kala mentions above because it wasn't what was referenced.Thanks!

In the next 24 hours I'm going to be making a few changes.
1- I'm going to be making all of the captains moderators on their team's group pages. That way you can set up polls and list if you want.
2a- I'm going to be adding 2 new tabs to all of your team's google sheets. The first one is a replacement for your "Who's Reading What". This one will be called "Who is Reading What. They will look very similar, but there will be some noticeable changes. If your team has already started using the old tab, don't worry I'm not going to delete it, but I encourage you to have your team move over the information to the new one. I will try and help as much as I can.
2b- The second tab I will be adding will be called "Weekly Post" This one will automatically create your weekly post. (Janeylou- I promise you it is pretty easy to use) You will make 9 selections from the dropdowns, and it will give you a script that you can copy and paste into GR. But you will need to make sure that your team is filling out the "Who is Reading What" tab in order for this to work. There are instructions on how to use the page. The most important thing is DO NOT TYPE ANYTHING ON THAT PAGE!!!
This tab has a lot of formulas written into it. If you change any of the formulas it will stop the rest of the page from working.
3- As of right now, we still have 7 players who have not checked in to their teams. If they do not check in by the time the game starts, then those teams will go down to 6 players each. There is 1 team missing 2 players. I'm hopping that at least one of the players check in, or that we get at least one alternat that I can put on that team.

Just a quick question--I am not SS savvy LOL
I already created a check-in template for my team's weekly post. Do we have to use that new Weekly Post SS? I'm scared to even attempt--it makes me anxious and nervous😨 😱 😓
I'm content with doing it the old fashioned way-- instead of trying to copy and paste anything off of a SS into GR 😰 --I have tried that before and it was an epic fail 🤣

YIPPPEEE!!! I'll be your kinda girl 😁
These SS are nice, pretty and lovely if you know how to use them. I love looking at them and admiring them but really don't have the desire to use them a lot 😨 especially in a challenge when it counts.
I can do enough to get my books onto a SS and sometimes I can't even do that right without screwing something up 🤣

A few of you have asked me along the line of the same question on your team pages. I'm going to answer it on here so everyone gets the same message, the same way/ time. I want to be very transparent with all of you.
Right now we are still waiting on 7 player to sign into their teams.
Teams 1, 5, and 9
Have all 7 of their players checked in
Team 8
Has as 6 of their players checked in
Teams 2, 3, 4, 7, 10 (Lit Happens!)
Have 6 of their 7 players checked in

Has 5 of their 7 players checked in
There is only on alternat player signed up at this time, and if I'm going to assigner her to team 6 starting tomorrow. If their other players check in, before the 22nd, I will move one of them to another team.
A few of the teams who were originally 7 plays, but now might be 6 have asked about changing the rule for the Special prompts. Specifically if I could change it to 5 out of the 6 players needing to read for it.
I have thought on it, and I'm going to say no. I have made this decision because there is no way to make sure that the book discrepancy between the lowest book count reader and the highest book count reader does not become grater than 1. This becomes a problem for MP 2 and MP 3.
I know this decision might disappoint some people, so I'm going to remind you of 2 tips, and give you 1 hint as to how I would play the game as a sort of olive branch.
1. Remember MP and SP prompts can be read for at any point during the game. Now would be an excellent time to get those lower count readers started on some of those books.
2. They can use their mulligans for MP and SP books, and 100 page book counts are not required for mulligans. Only a goodreads page.
3. If I was a captain, I would ask my lower count reader to only focuses their additional book reads on the SP and MP squares that my team are going for. Once those are done, then they can help work on the chosen prompts each week.

One other thing. For those of who are utilizing the "Weekly Post" tab in the spread sheet. I've noticed that some of the teams were confused about the GR Book Link. That is referring to the link that you get when you go to add a book to one of these threads. I should look something like this: [b*ok:A Simple Mistake|222279622]

One last thing, I promise. I has come to my attention, that I was not clear in the fact that each team has already been assigned a board. The prompts correspond to squares on that board. When crating the game I had the grand plan that everyone would just be happy to look at the google sheets, but my hubris will once again be my downfall.
In the next day or two I will try and attach a picture of each teams board to their group page. So I hope this will help with your planning.
