I saw him as I was pulling out of your driveway. He was lecturing about "a-l-l-o-t" is giving time to something and "a space l-o-t" is doing/having much of something. I shook my head and blink-ed my eyes to make sure 'twas not my imagination running amok (as it sometimes does when I am pastry deprived). I waited until you were safely back in the abode, then made my own way home where I promptly fell asleep and dreamt of eating A LOT of pastries :)

Do you have A LOT of weeds? My husband and I are working at pulling vines, ferns and other such detritus from around an oak tree in our yard. I called a momentary halt when I spied a slithery, slinky snake (of the garden variety-- but a SNAKE none-the-less). For when there are snakes, there is no Sarah.

Poor Groke! Were they that bad? How many were there? I prescribe a hot bath, a hot toddy and a hot man....in that order!! Can you sell styes, like warts? I know people who swear by selling warts to get rid of them!!! Classic psychosomatic reactions at work!! I think it is a medieval rural superstition that has somehow survived.

I used to get a recurring sty (I spell it without the "e") in my right eye about once a year all the way until my 20s. Now it appears only every 5 years or so (with certain comets and other celestial wonders). Hot wash cloths are nice, and eye drops.

You were brave!!! Fancy taking children (not your own) on a nature ramble! I know you had parental permission, but had you filled out your RAMS forms? Hmmmm? If one had drowned, or choked.....quelle horreur! (I hope you can detect the notes of sarcasm and exasperation in my voice)! We can't move anywhere with our students unless every t is crossed and i dotted (or is that the other way around?)! The paperwork takes longer than the trip.
