I have a poll question ------- for poll one April Showers, can the shower refer to a person taking a shower or must it be rain?
Just to find the word "shower" in the text would be fine. Plurals and possessives work, no other variations.

As an avid audio by listener I do one of two things - make a note at the time, or find a text copy online and do a search and copy from there. You don’t need to reference the page, just supply the quote.

I was thinking about using time stamps. Thanks, Apple!
Does anyone know how to view the genre shelvings of a book when there is no “more” and “show all” link? This would be for finding the number of shelvings for a particular genre.Example: Erma Bombeck: A Life in Humor by Susan Edwards
Genres listed are Biography, Humor, and Nonfiction. The book has only 144 ratings, and there is no way to see if Humor could drop off.
I’m sure I’m missing something really obvious.
Denise wrote: "Does anyone know how to view the genre shelvings of a book when there is no “more” and “show all” link? But you'll be okay with Humor for that one as it's there now and you've locked it in on the task thread.

Okay, thank you!
On the 1001 spreadsheet, under column J, there are books that are marked "Deleted 2008." Can they still be used?
Yes! There are different editions, so there are actually over 1300 '1001' books. You can use them all.
No surprise from me.... since I said if I get to pick a group read this book would be it when I posted in the task thread:When the Cranes Fly South by Lisa Ridzén
A Flower Traveled in My Blood by Haley Cohen GillilandWith a trigger warning. There are some difficult topics mentioned in this book.
If you would prefer a different selection, I can send another one, but this was the best book that I read last season by far.
Group Read Choice: The Warehouse by Rob Hartmystery-thriller with a bit of science fiction
I've read 2 books by Rob Hart (so far!) and both were 5 star reads for me

That's fine - we've included the trigger warning in the list.
Thank you all for your group read choices! The list is now complete.
I’m not sure where to post this, but to qualify Susan Edwards for Aged style (born 1948), here is her viaf file:https://viaf.org/en/viaf/50959966
She has two books listed under “Works”
I'm excited to start planning with the 10 and 20 point tasks. It would be very helpful to have a planning thread for it. Thanks for your help.
Denise, this is the right place to ask. Are you planning to read one of those two books? Because VIAF has at least one other author called Susan Edwards, born later.Connie, thanks for the reminder! The thread is now up.
Rosemary wrote: "Denise, this is the right place to ask. Are you planning to read one of those two books? Because VIAF has at least one other author called Susan Edwards, born later..."Yes, I am reading Erma Bombeck: A Life in Humor.
Her year of birth is listed in the copyright information in the book. I could post a screenshot if I knew how?
Sorry, I should have listed the book when I first posted!
That's fine, Denise. The VIAF listing confirms it for that book, and I think we'd accept you finding it in the book, too!
Claire wrote: "Rosemary, if you read a second book for task 1, can you still claim the 5 points for multiple?"Yes!
Are graphic novels strictly comic book format, where every page is illustrated and the dialogue is in balloons over characters’ heads or is there more than one form that combines text with graphic illustrations? The book I’m thinking about is Thor & Loki: Epic Tales from Marvel Mythology by Delilah S. Dawson
https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/9...
Hell no! It is anything designated graphic novel on good reads. A lot of what I read are not much like that. I can’t tag anything as I am on my phone, but we are GR friends, so you should see on my recent reads Feeding Ghosts and my current read Woman, Life Freedom. So very far from the bubble dialogue illustration scenario a lot of us, ahem, older readers think of as graphic novels. When I first started reading them I was amazed at the huge diversity of what is available now, narratively as well as artistically.
Looking at the Readerboard, you are showing me with 60 points. I am showing 65. It looks like I did not get the 5 points for multiple on Task 10.1. post 269. I don't see where you posted a problem with it, so I am a little confused as to what I did wrong.

I have read a book with no English edition. It has been published in Spanish, German and Dutch. Which edition should I use? It is important ad my edition is over 100 pages and so are the international ones, but some Dutch editions are a bit under 100 pages

You would use the printed edition that has the most ratings.
For the mods: the RwS Quick Link to BPL goes to a site with a banner to an up-to-date link for BPL. I was looking for a book and found it, but what do you think of the new layout for finding books and identifying whether they are on assignment? I wonder if they still use that designation. Thank you.
They do still use it. It works a little differently, but you need to find all the print editions for the title in the new catalogue, and then check them. They tend to combine more copies together, so I think it's easier after you get used to it.
It looks like you didn’t expect any questions on 10.1. Leave it to us RWS’ers to come up with one!I have read River of Renewal: Myth and History in the Klamath Basin with a first publication date of 2024.
But Goodreads has a first edition listed separately River of Renewal with a date of 2006.
Which date would you like me to use?
For aged style, River of Renewal: Myth and History in the Klamath Basin by Stephen MostBorn 1943

I've combined those. The first publication date of 2006 is the one to use.
Thanks!

That's fine - I have updated his Goodreads profile.
