Here's a new working link of the cello concerto. (by Jacqueline du Pré, as Rebecca wished)

Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85, his last notable work, is a cornerstone of the solo cello repertoire. Elgar composed it in the aftermath of World War I.

Elgar dedicated the piece to "my friends pictured within," each variation being an affectionate portrayal of one of his circle of close acquaintances. The people portrayed in the variations include Elgar's wife Alice, Augustus J. Jaeger and Elgar himself.

Highly recommended - a sensitive portrayal of a composer who has almost lost his ability to compose.
The cello concerto's my fave piece of music ever. Tis a love song to a vanished world, and should only be played by Jackie. Other cellists seem to think it's a pastoral meandering. *shakes fist*
