Mystery/Thriller Reading Friends discussion

i am just about done with verity & need a good thriller to read next! i have quite a few in my ‘want to read’ but i cant decide which one i want to read next haha help me decide please :)

If Verity worked for you because of the messy relationships and the sense that the narrator cannot be fully trusted, you might look for thrillers that lean into domestic suspense or unreliable memory rather than straight procedural mystery. That usually keeps the same one-more-chapter feeling without needing the exact same setup.

Behind closed doors by BA Paris

Behind Closed Doors is a logical suggestion after Verity if the appeal is domestic tension and the fear that the private version of a relationship is completely different from the public one. Kaytlin, was that the similarity that made you recommend it, or was it the pace and escalation?

I just finished The Other Mrs. - by Mary Kubica.
It was a great read! I finished it in 2 days. If you like a good psychological thriller, pick this one up. I have read several books by this author. She is one of my favorites. This book has amazing plot twists and characters that will simply have you hooked.

I also just started reading The Unknown- by Riley Sager. This is the first book by this author that I am trying out.

Moving from a familiar favorite like Kubica to a first book by Sager creates a useful comparison point: both may promise psychological pressure, but the real question is whether *The Unknown* hooks you through character suspicion, atmosphere, or the mechanics of the reveal. I’d be curious which element carries it for you.

Roger Skrypczak has a great series - The Columbia County Murder Mystery series that I very much enjoyed. The latest book, Emma's Demise was by far my favorite, but for sure give the others a read because they are really good too! I liked Emma's Demise because it focuses on a calculated murderer who is always just out of the grasp of law enforcement and a lawyer from her small town who is dedicated to bringing her to justice. There is no telling who in the town is loyal to her and is helping her evade capture. I loved the story and was always guessing what would happen next. Highly recommend!
