Shannon (sianin) | 129 comments DOes anyone know of any stories that are set or have a theme of winter solstace? Short stories would be OK. The only one I know is one of the magic treehouse books: Winter of the Ice Wizard (I think)

Thanks

LauraW (lauralynnwalsh) | 130 comments Amazon lists lots of children's books under the search topic "winter solstice". I don't know of any particular ones to recommend.

Evelyn Saenz Thank you for these suggestions. We make candles and sing a Solstice song but haven't read any books for the solstice. I look forward to reading these suggestions.

I saw this and thought it looked good, but haven't actually read it
The Return of the Light Twelve Tales from Around the World for the Winter Solstice

Shannon (sianin) | 129 comments So happy to see that there are a few around. I have received The Christmas Revels Songbook In Celebration of the Winter Solstice Carol, Processionals, Rounds, Ritual and Children's Songs and it is pretty good. Several Wassail songs and a few traditional Christmas songs. If the other one shows up I'll post and let you know. Thanks again for the suggestions.

I just read that to my 4yr old. it doesn't really mention solstice but denounces consumerism and encourages friendship and respect for the earth.

Marion Ette | 2 comments Aisha's Moonlit Walk: Stories and Celebrations for the Pagan Year

is good for tweens. It talks about ritual you can do in your pagan family, how to be pagan in our American culture. It's good but my daughter is 4 so it's to mature for us.

I have a copy of this book. It has a lot of great songs in it. John Langstaff is well known as a collector of folk songs.
