It's time to starting thinking about some fun and interesting categories for our Group Reads! The ideas gathered from this thread will be used to build a list from which categories will be randomly chosen. Please include a short definition or description with your suggestion.

Each season's Group Reads will have 2 fiction categories and 1 non-fiction category. The Gutenberg Classics will continue.
The year's categories will be posted in advance so Group Reads nominators will have time to research and select appropriate books. For more information about the nominating process, please see task 20.10 in the Rewards of the Challenge.
As always, polls will be set up each season to choose between the nominated books for that season's Group Reads.

I like Non-fiction -- Scientists. Also, tangential, Non-fiction -- Outer Space

Non-fiction -- Movies is good too.

If you google Quiet Fiction Books you can find some lists.

Examples: Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk
A Man Called Ove
Search
You Are Here

Here is the definition I found.

Quiet fiction is a character-driven genre that prioritizes emotional, internal development over plot-heavy, high-stakes spectacle. Often focusing on everyday lives and ordinary moments, these stories are meditative and subtle, emphasizing character study and Atmosphere. They offer deep, immersive experiences that are remembered for their emotional resonance rather than high-octane action

So navel gazing, stream of consciousness type ?
Is it a MPG genre?

Rebekah (bekalynn) | 291 comments Also the polls ask us which book we would like to read for the Winter 2025 challenge? Is that a typo?
