Addy, this is a known issue. If you want to check GR while on your phone, don't use the app. Use a web browser on your phone instead.

Ok...I don't typically like to be on a browser, but I kind of figured thats what I'd have to do. bummer:(

I've read the first two chapters. I'm wondering if the developer of the land wanting to put in a golf course (view spoiler)[is modeled on trump a bit. (hide spoiler)]
I like the author's writing style. I've read one other book by him and it flows nice and keeps moving.

I've read the first 3 chapters. I'm listening to the audio book and I really like the narrator. What other book have u read from David? I've read Rotten Tommy and Maggie's Grave. Both were a great time!

I've read Maggie's Grave too. It was really good.
I have 4 of his other books sitting on my tbr. Too much good stuff to read, too little time.

This is my first by this author and I agree, the writing is easy to read and flows.

I've read the next 3 chapters and oh boy....things are getting interesting!

There's a very sentimental aspect to the story that I hadn't expected. But also some nasty people. Hoping they'll get their comeuppance.

I read up to ch9. I am not trusting (view spoiler)[ Avalon at all here. Interesting interaction so far though. (hide spoiler)]

I find it interesting that we’re this far along now and have no resolution yet for that opening sentence to the book.

Ch 11 is not for the faint of heart.

It is not pleasant and not what I was expecting!

its so good! Murial is such a charming character. I read this in one sitting. I think David Sodergren may be my favorite author this year. And By God's Hand is on it's way to me and there are a plethora of David Sodergren books on Kindle Unlimited. 🤗

I just got to the end of ch12, and definitely surprised now.

I like Muriel too. It's amazing how in just a few short pages, I just wanted to rush in there to protect her and maybe share a pot of tea with her.

WendyB David Sodergren's characters are always so fantastically complex. it's a breath of fresh air after attempting to read Grady Hendrix.

Maybe I'm biased too because he's Scottish. ☘️

I've already read this one, but now you're all making me think I want to read it again. It's my favorite by David Sodergren who hasn't let me down yet.

I'm not a fan of Grady Hendrix either. His books always seem like they'd be right up my alley. So, I've given him a chance a few times, but something about them just never quite works for me.

Finished. That read really fast. Loved the unusual nature of the story and that it stayed focused on the just the story at hand and didn't feel the need to bring in all kinds of other storylines.
"Billy" could be a little creepy but still, it was hard not to like him and what he did for Muriel.

I just finished ch18....that was....something...lol. Not sure where this is heading but I'm definitely on edge.

This was my first horror book I started and finished this year. After seeing it so hyped up online I figured it would it would be choice for a quick first read using my Kindle Unlimited App on my new iPad. It hooked me and I finished over a couple days. Really enjoyed it. Really effective, interesting, unique blend of disgusting and heartfelt. It also helps with investment for me at least, when you set up such hate-able villains that you want to see get their comeuppance.

What else are you planning to read Michael? I've been reading horror all my life. Did u used to read other genres?

I'm very new to reading horror novels so I have a long list of books to catch up on. I used to read just read short horror fiction and otherwise mostly read sci fi and YA fantasy whenever I read novels for fun and not for school. This year I plan to read the rest of Nick Cutter's books after really liking The Troop and to be caught up for his new book coming out. I'm currently reading Bat Eater by Kylie Lee Baker and then I want to read The Eyes Are the Best Part by Monica Kim then maybe check out the new books coming out from them. I also want to read Incidents Around the house which is supposed to be getting a movie adaptation coming out later this year. In general I'm currently trying to just focus on catching up on some of the most popular and acclaimed horror books of the 2020s so far while also trying to read more books from authors who I've already read and enjoyed a book by.

Cool! All those books you've mentioned I either have or is on my wishlist. Im trying to catch up in the more modern horror books as well. I do have an extensive vintage horror collection but lately I've started to want to read just the newer stuff. If you haven't read any Nat Cassidy yet, I highly recommend his stuff as well!

I agree, not exactly what I was expecting either (view spoiler)[ it was practically a love story after all, haha! (hide spoiler)], but I did enjoy it too.

I did read the memoir also. It was fascinating I thought. Very cool that Mr. Sodergren did that.

I loved this one so much, there was a lot of heart in the gooey horror bits, very well constructed story that showcases how amazing horror fiction is.

Well said, and I agree.

This one story made me a fan of the author and now I always want to pick up his works, read one recently that was mid but still, he's got something special and it shows.
