I recently read a series of books by Steven Cavanagh. Similar to John Grisham maybe more gritty. Also reading a series by Ace Atkins the Quinn Colson small town lawman books. Great stuff. I like to raid library books-for-sale section. Pretty much covered WA state.

Jim here, a Yankee transplanted to New Orleans. Literature and history, and as much of it as I can find the time to read. I've been an avid reader since the 1970s, but only came to Goodreads a few years ago. Look forward to hearing others' thoughts.
Hey y’all! I’m Lulu from Texas 🤠I live for historical fiction and psychological thrillers, but if the story is good, I’m there—no matter the genre. I just love getting lost in a book. Can’t wait to connect with fellow readers!
Hello Friends! I hope all of you are well! Thank you for the invite Joel! I am pleased to be joining you folks. My name is Kaitlin, and I’m from Hawaii. I can’t say I have a favorite genre as I read books of all kinds, but some of the ones I tend to gravitate toward include anything that has to do with the more subversive topics such as psychological warfare & counterculture, rare & classical literature, dream psychology & the mind, ancient history, mythology, fantasy & magic, and horror. My favorite creators include Shakespeare, Tolkien, Orwell, Lovecraft, Jung, Rumi, Poe, and Paulo Coelho just to give you a few ideas. Anyways, enough about me. I’d love to hear more about you guys. I’m looking forward to getting to know y’all! Wishing you all a most fabulous day!! ♪(๑ᴖ◡ᴖ๑)♪
I'm Emma, from Florida. Sci-Fi and fantasy are my favorite genres, but I dabble in just about everything.
I’m Caitlin and I live in Bangor, Maine. I am one of those people that doesn’t ever leave the house without a book in their purse, even if it’s just to go to the grocery store 😂I like dark thrillers, Nordic Noir is definitely my go-to in that department. Otherwise, I love fantasy reads. I tend to gravitate towards high/epic fantasy, dark academia and historical fantasy. But honestly, give me intrigue, magic, a sword and a quest any day of the week and I’m happy.
Hello groupies! I'm Jonathan (Max Outlier) a fan of literary fiction, under the radar authors, relatable characters, unique plots/premise and on occasion, non-fiction/biographies and mystery providing the author feigns darkness, hatred and murder. Favorite authors are Percival Everett, Brian Doyle, James McBride, Richard Powers, Matthew Quick, Walter Mosley and a bevy of others. A true outlier who cares less about awards, number of books sold or reviews. Writing is an art and individual tastes vary..there's no right or wrong but instead what engages the reader's taste!
Hi folks! I’m Leah, from Kansas. I’m a librarian and reading is my actual life. I really do read a little bit of everything but am especially drawn to speculative fiction, particularly fantasy and sci-fi, but I also love horror. I run two monthly book clubs as part of my work, one is a general club with selections from all genres and the other is exclusively spec fic.
Hi! I’m Arc Kagut from Norman Oklahoma, but everyone calls me AK-47 because my math class saw me reading The Satanic Verses and got scared of me. I’m an avid fan of horror, but I also kinda dabble into more classic literature. I’ll take any recommendations regardless of genre except if it includes a hedgehog because my pet hedgehog Demetrius died 2 weeks ago and I’m still wearing black to this day to mourn Demetrius. Anyways, in 2025, I’ve read over 50 books of varying genres. If you need a recommendation ask me any time! Thank you!
Hi, I’m Elyse. I live in Los Angeles and reading is my number one passion. I read 97 books last year and enjoy most genres. I’m always looking for recommendations from like minded readers.I like ok forward to broadening my horizon.

Hi Everyone! My name is Julie and thank you for the invite! I am a lifelong reader starting with Nancy Drew Mysteries and The Hardy Boys and today I find myself gravitating most to thrillers, fantasy and romance with a bit of general fiction or horror just to mix things up a bit.
Hi Everyone! I'm Nat, originally from Buffalo, NY; currently living in Alaska. My favorite genres are contemporary fiction and historical nonfiction. I read and enjoy just about every genre.
Hi, I'm Barbara/Barbie. I work as a mail carrier and primarily listen to audiobooks at work. Between audiobooks and books, I used to go through around 200 a year, but I've slowed down dramatically since getting more involved in my union, and I now go through around 100 books a year.I really do enjoy all genres of books, even nonfiction. I seem to gravitate a little more towards romance novels, graphic novels, and anything "weird." I like graphic novels in large part because they're something I can't listen to at work.
Katy here. Fantasy, science fiction and historical fiction are my favorites. I just re read The Old Man and the Sea.
Hello. thank you for the invite. You can call me Joy. It's what my real name means in English anyways. I work in healthcare.I primarily enjoy fantasy and sci fi, with a particular weakness for science fantasy. I used to want to own every book in physical form until I got into audiobooks and became almost dependent on them...

Hi I’m Ali from Idaho! Thank you for the invite, I’m excited to be a part of this group! I picked reading back up when I was a senior in high school and moved from my hometown to a new school and didn’t have many friends. Since then it’s Stuck with me and been my primary hobby for almost 10 years. I adore most genres, and I’m open to trying new genres, but my favorites are sci-fi, fantasy, mystery/thriller, and literary fiction!
Some of my favorite books are Project Hail Mary, The Last Time I Lied, Dungeon Crawler Carl, Razorblade Tears, The Priory of the Orange Tree, The Poppy War and recently the Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion series.
I can’t wait to read all about your favorite books and genres and it is nice to meet you 😊
Good evening! My name is Cindy and I appreciate being invited to the group. I'm a lover of words. I read constantly and am a member of two book clubs in my area. I love historical fiction, mystery, thriller, some non-cheesy romance, and, well just about everything.
Hi everyone, I'm Bethany from New York. I live 2 hours from Buffalo NY in a small town. I have a lot of health problems, and can not longer work at only 47 years old. I have fallen in love with reading because it takes we away from the daily pain. I can become who ever I want in the book. My favorite is Fantasy, but I have been getting more into Horror, Thriller, Mistory, and Cozy fantasy.
Hi everyone! I read roughly 10 books/month. I'm usually simultaneously in the middle of a nonfiction (slow to read so I can digest and think about it), a "heavy" topic novel, a whodunnit, and a romance (palette cleanser). Swap out the whodunnit for a high fantasy or a hard sci-fi sometimes. I do very few horror (~5/yr). I don't judge what other people read, but I do roll my eyes when people JUST LOVE a book only because they think they are supposed to. Girl, be honest. You don't get the hype either, just admit it.
I have no problem DNFing a book because my time is precious and I have 700+ books on my TBR waiting for me. But if I get halfway through a book and DNF it, that counts as a read book for me. I read it, I just didn't care enough to finish it.
I enjoy buying books and supporting authors but I also have a killer library system that I use. Roughly 70% of my books are physical books (I love the smell and feel of a book), some 25% are audible, and about one/month is on my Kindle. I try to shop at indie bookstores but AMZ and B&N take plenty of my money. I do buy direct from author websites often also.
Favorite books of all time include Pillars of the Earth, A Spell for Chameleon, One Dark Window, Project Hail Mary, The Art of Racing in the Rain, Ready Player One, Find a Way, Can't Hurt Me, Dark Matter, Rock Paper Scissors, The Reformatory, The Butterfly Garden.
Early influences were Clan of the Cavebear, the Sweet Valley High series, Lion Witch and the Wardrobe, The Horse Whisperer, the Rainmaker, the Secret Window, Relic.
I've given 5 stars so far this year to How to Walk Away, the Devil You Know, Good People, the Summer Guests, Twenty Years Later, That's Not My Name, the Haunting of Paynes Hollow. If you liked these books then we have similar taste. :)
I typically write thorough reviews with a recommend-or-not, feel free to friend me!
Hi everyone! 😊I’m Josephine, joining from the Netherlands. I’ve always loved reading, especially books that really make you feel something, whether that’s emotional, intense, or completely immersive.
I tend to switch between genres depending on my mood, and right now I’m juggling a mix of thriller and fantasy. I’m currently reading Quicksilver, Never Lie, and Iron Flame, so my brain is all over the place in the best way 😅
Outside of reading, I’m a mom, so I usually read whenever I can find a quiet moment, which isn’t always easy, but makes it extra special when I do.
I joined this group to discover new books, get inspired, and connect with fellow readers. I’m always open to recommendations, so feel free to share your favorites with me! 📚✨
Hello people!!!I am Aanchal, I am a high school student (12th grade) in the midst of applying to universities & managing finals the only thing that keeps me a little sane is reading! 😛🙏
I am applying to colleges in USA and reading has reallyyy helped me in expressing myself above par level, in this age where everyone is GPT- ing it, genuinely, being able to write is a charm!
I have a website too, it's called theliteraryeconomist.com (if you wanna check it out!) i wanna major in econ and i LOVE literature so i merged the two, not just literature i write philosophy, politics, physics, sociology, & more, intertwined with economics.
I am currently reading Mothers, Fathers, & Others by Siri Hustvedt (I haven't been able to read as much due to finals, can't wait to raw dodge a book, a night again!) & I have been binge watching the Office [US] for fourth time now lol.
I'd love to discover more books here and meet new people!!!
I was invited; I joined. Not sure how active I will be. I review about a book a day. If interested, follow me. I'm a Quaker widow on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Returning to the quarter-million emails...
Hi all! I'm Sabrina, I read about 5-7 books/week, and my favorite genres are weird girl lit, horror (but not splatterpunk), contemporary fiction, some literary (but not too weird), and near-future sci-fi (especially dystopian). Today, I'm reading an ARC of the Fourth Wife!
hi hello hello 💕I am Angy from Italy.
I don't think there was a time when I didn't enjoy reading about love. Whether it's dark or rom-com, romance is my favorite thing in the world.
Just got out of a book slump so don't be afraid to send me recs privately.
Favorite books are nothing like the movies, twisted series and windy city series
I'm easily pleaseable it's rare that I DNF (usually it's a cheating trope or problematic author but I want to get better at it because my TBR is long and time is precious ) so you will see many 4-5 stars
feel free to friend me!
Hi everyone! I’m Kayla, a busy mom of 3. Thank you for inviting me to this group :) I’m someone that will read just about anything, except the majority of nonfiction titles. I read for escapism and adventure, not so much to love in reality. Fantasy, sci-fi and thriller are my main go-to options. Last year I fell into a bit of a slump, so I’m excited to keep my momentum of 2026 going!
I am always open to new GR friends, anyone can feel free to add me.
Happy reading!!
Hi, everyone! Thanks for the invite!I am from the near south suburbs of Chicago. Like most of you, I have been an avid reader since I was a child. I used to read mostly horror (King, Straub) and thrillers (Grisham). As I’ve gotten older, I have leaned more toward women’s fiction, rom-coms, contemporary, young adult. I’ll still read thrillers, but they are scattered among the rest.
My must-read authors now include Amanda Prowse, Ali Brady, Alison Hammer (one-half of Ali Brady), Kathryn R. Biel, Emma Lord, Katherine Center, Riley Sager, Claire Mackintosh, Alex Finlay. I read exclusively on Kindle, but my “trophy” books include the complete collections of Stephen King, Amanda Prowse, and Kathryn R. Biel.
I am a widow and mom to a 20yo daughter, and I work in Human Resources. When I’m not reading, you will find me playing The Sims or working on my once-a-week blog posts that can be read at www.booksundertheblanket.com. The only pop-up you’ll get is one to subscribe when you leave the page. The only emails you’ll get from it are the once weekly notification about a new post, so feel free to subscribe if you interested. It truly is a passion project.
I am thrilled to be here to make some more bookish friends!
Hello Everyone,I'm George and live in rural Illinois. I am a lifelong reader but since retirement I read more. I am the secretary for our local public library and am currently in 8 book clubs. I enjoy the socialization of the book clubs, and I read other genres that I don't normally read. I enjoy passing my love of reading to my five-year-old granddaughter. My granddaughter was a Covid baby, so she spent the early years with us while my daughter works so we have a special bond
I enjoy working outdoors and have a large garden and yard. I grow so many tomatoes that I share with book club members and kindergarten parents of the school my granddaughter attends. I am also trying to teach my granddaughter my love of the garden and outdoors. She loves pulling peppers from the plants and eating them in the garden.
My all-time favorite book is The Grapes of Wrath by Steinbeck. It is a timeless American classic. I read thrillers and historical fiction for relaxation.
