Hi all! So this is my first time reading this book, though I have read the Six of Crows series by Leigh Bardugo, which I LOVED, so I was super excited to get into this series and happy to see it on our list:) It's really cool to see the Grisha world expanding and the element of the summoners and Darklings was something I didn't see coming at all, I thought the three basic branches of Grisha were crazy enough as it is... I personally am a bit scared myself of the Shadow Fold, I think Leigh Bardugo does a great job at conveying its DOOM factor and sheer terror of the monsters 😬😂I'm about halfway through the book currently and am wondering if anyone has watched the series on Netflix and if so, what do you think of it? Is it worth watching? Also, is it drastically different from the book or would you say the portrayal matches up well? I'd love to hear any thoughts anyone has on either the book or series!!
Thanks for reading😄
daniel wrote: "I was looking to read this book, should i?"Hi Daniel, I would definitely recommend this book to others and suggest at least giving it a shot! It started a bit slow (imo) but once it picked up, everything advanced pretty fast but in a good natured way! It's also a great introduction to the Grishaverse...

(the magical beings in this series who encompass a "form of magic used to manipulate matter at its fundamental level. They are not traditional wizards but rather living, elemental, and material manipulators—such as healers, summoners, and fabrikators" - it's portrayed wayyy cooler & whimsical in the books😅)~
and if you like that fantasy world then her other series, Six of Crows would be right up your alley:)
I'm finding it easy to read and really entertaining & enjoyable, for sure worth the time:)
******SPOILERS******I need someone to tell me if I was alone in this, but I was low-key rooting for the Darkling the whole time and genuinely thought he was end game until maybe halfway through Siege and Storm. When I read the series it was a time when I was reading A LOTTTTTT of bad boy MMCs with the 'i can fix him' mentality
I read this book early last year, and I loved it! I had read that its better to read this trilogy before Six of Crows, and I'm glad I did read this first.

I just finished this book yesterday and absolutely loveddd it:)) definitely going to continue the series... I read Six of Crows first but found this not too confusing~ bumpy at the start but it got better.. (if anyone was concerned!) but if I knew I would've loved to read it in the right order!
I finally finished this one and it was good, but I did like Six of Crows a bit more. However, I would be interested in continuing the series. I didn't really realize that it was a prequel to Six of Crows, so I wish I had read it first, but it is still good.
This was my first read of this book and I loved it. Such an interesting world and the characters were definitely engaging. It didn't always go where I expected, which is always good. My review is here if anyone wants to see it: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
