FROM THE MODS
Happy April!
Our Young Adult themed Individual Readathon will be held from May 15 - May 17. The updated schedule can be viewed in The General Readathon Information (2026) thread. Readathon Central will be posted on or around April 16.
We recently began offering Challenge Badges so that you can collect, display, and brag about your challenge accomplishments! Check each challenge to copy the badge for participation or completion of the challenge and collect them in your own happy place! Badges are now available for the April and Second Quarter challenges. Thank you to member Angelina for the idea and badge designs!
Messaging is no longer available on Goodreads. You may communicate with the mods in the Questions and Comments for Mods thread. If you have a concern that needs to be addressed privately, you may email us.
We have a separate discussion folder for our Member Challenge Leaders. If you have been, or would like to be, a volunteer challenge leader, please visit the folder, mark the threads to receive notifications, and comment/email via the Roll Call thread.
There has been a substantial uptick in scams targeting author members with offers to promote their books for a fee. Some are even using moderator names and spoofed email addresses. Don’t fall for it! Participation in our group is always free, and we still have a strict “No Promotions” policy in our group rules. Click to read the Scam Alert discussion.
GAMES & EVENTS We’ve reached an incredible milestone — 35,000 members! What started as a shared love of books has grown into a vibrant, passionate community of readers, reviewers, recommenders, and literary adventurers. And that’s something worth celebrating in a big way. To honor this amazing achievement, we launched a special reading challenge in March inspired by the number 35 – a tribute to the stories that connect us and the community that makes reading even more meaningful. All 35K activities continue through April 30, so there’s still time to jump in, participate, and celebrate together.
Whether you’ve been here since the beginning or just joined us, you’re one of the 35,000 reasons this community is so special. Let’s read, connect, and celebrate the milestone — one book at a time! 📚✨ Check out the fun today!
Alphabetical Add-On Story unfolds a story one letter at a time, with each new addition following the alphabet from A to Z. Every contribution builds on what came before, turning simple letters into an imaginative journey.
Five Letters is still going strong and the fun isn’t slowing down. Swing by, pick up your five letters and see what hilarious or clever sentence you can create.
Have a great idea for group fun? Please share your Game Suggestions with us!
GROUP READ Our April theme is Daisy, and our group read for this month is Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid, which follows the rise and breakup of a fictional 1970s rock band, told through interviews, emails, lyrics, and transcripts.
CHALLENGES April brings two new monthly challenges with the theme of Daisy, and we are beginning second quarter challenges with the theme of Genre Gems.
Monthly Challenges Daisy Destiny is an open challenge to read books selected by chance in a petal-plucking fashion. Daisy Petals & Promise is a prompt based challenge based on Girl Scout Daisy petals.
Quarterly Challenges Build Your Own Hall of Fame: Genre Gems is an open challenge to add new genre-themed exhibits to your literary museum. The Lapidary List challenges you to spell out a gem name by reading award-winning books from the same genre award.
