My review for One Darcy Too Many: A Pride and Prejudice Variation was rejected because it does not meet Amazon's community guidelines.

I have read over the guidelines and can't find anything objectionable.
What do you think?

I don't think there is anything wrong there - I have only had a couple of rejects over the years. All I have done is re tweak a couple of words so that it is not exactly the same and that is usually enough. Sometimes the bots pick up of the review in Amazon and on Goodreads is identical.

As a rule, I don't post my GoodReads review until the Amazon review is published. I added it today so others could offer any ideas.

I removed the Tracey Ullman quote at the end.
We'll see what happens.

Susan (vesper1931) | 39 comments If it was an ARC you are only allowed to post 5 of these in a week

Thanks, Susan.
This one was not an ARC.

Melanie | 42 comments Maybe the word idiotic? Or they have a problem with the quotes of the other two people you mentioned. Otherwise I do not think there is something that could be objectionable in your review.
I have noticed that they do not like references to Disney and never use the word seduction, even if the author uses it in the description of the book.

In my opinion posting a review at the moment is quite a thing. I have two that wait for approval, one posted on March 23rd!

wosedwew | 127 comments Mod
Wow! Most of mine lately have been in limbo for several days before they are approved, but not as long as March 23rd.

This one was rejected within an hour.

The idiot was Collins, who was only especially idiotic this time.
I have wondered about the quotes before, but I always attribute them or as "author unknown" if I can't find the author.

I haven't heard back since I removed the quote at the end.

I once posted a very general review (Loved this book, and a few other words.) Then, when that was approved, I edited it and put in the final review. That posted right away.

I was thinking the word idiotic also.

It's been a while since any of us have complained about a rejected review. Sorry, Rose. That must be so annoying.

I have another rejected review for The Ghosts of Pemberley: A Paranormal Pride & Prejudice Variation by Catherine Bilson

This time Amazon gives me this info:
We apologize but Amazon is not accepting reviews on this product from this account. For more information or to contact us, please see our community guidelines.

I got one of those too, but just for one book. My others went through. shrug. It wasn't a bad review nor did it have any objectionable language (they usually send a not meeting community guidelines message and give you an opportunity to change it for those) in it.

I also had this reply for two reviews that weren't approved off, too. I read them prior to release. But another ARC I finished on KU went through. As I can not read every ARC on KU because it's not there before release I don't know how I will, in future, be able to provide a review on Amazon

message 12: by wosedwew (new)

wosedwew | 127 comments Mod
This was not an ARC for me. Amazon knows I borrowed it on KU.

On the same page as the rejection, Amazon posted several things I had purchased from them, asking for reviews.

Go figure!

Sam H. | 169 comments Mod
What does that even mean? Are they penalizing the author, or the reader?

Their war against Ai reviews is only hurting the real people who rely on them. Meanwhile, they allow Ai drivel to be 'published' every day

That definitely makes no sense and is not understandable. Their seems to be no logic behind it.

it may be worth reaching out to the author to find out if she has inadvertently got a block on her reviews in some way?

Thanks for the suggestion. I just contacted Catherine Bilson at her website.

Liz H | 21 comments That's a bummer, Rose. I have one that's been waiting since April 22. I think I may have submitted it twice. Is there any way to ask Amazon what the holdup is? It is for a book from Booksprout, and they won't let me download another book until the review is published on Amazon.

message 18: by Sam (new)

Sam H. | 169 comments Mod
I'd hesitate on resubmitting. It flags it as unusual (wrong) traffic and may reject the review.

Has BS done away with the thing to click when Amazon is taking a while?

The submit twice is a no-no as it is exactly what a bot might do - a bit like spam phone calls. Very frustrating.

Liz H | 21 comments Thanks Sam, I found the button for where Amazon has rejected a review. I clicked it and found this email address
review-appeals@amazon.com
I wrote tonight, will see if they get back to me.

message 21: by Sam (new)

Sam H. | 169 comments Mod
Hope they get back to you.

But Booksprout used to have a place to click on the review saying Amazon has delayed. It implies you posted your review and are waiting for it to be made live.

message 22: by Melanie (new)

Melanie | 42 comments The button should be still there but after a time you are no longer able to click that because it becomes gray. You can then only click Amazon rejected it, get the email address and must post Amazon's answer. Had that issue some days ago with my reviews from late may and early April.

message 23: by Sam (new)

Sam H. | 169 comments Mod
Ah, I wasn't aware of that.

Was your March review finally approved?

message 24: by Melanie (new)

Melanie | 42 comments no, unfortunately not, I meant that one from the end of march (Mr Darcy's quizzing glas) and that from the beginning of April (Hawthorn and silver brich). Sorry for the typo, it's definitely to warm here in to think clearly ;-)

Oysh. Sorry about that, Melanie.
Amazon is being tough on real readers/reviewers and real authors!!

Here's a YouTube video with suggestions for authors and reviewers on getting Amazon reviews posted.

that was interesting Rose and helpful. Most of it was stuff we already now but I thought the "don't post reviews within 24 hours of reading" was very interesting. authors often want us to post straightaway but that seems to be less reliable now.

message 28: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) | 37 comments Thank you, Rose, for that useful video!
