When making a character die, make sure they're not just an amazing character, but someone important to the plot.
Here’s a tip that at first, I thought was ridiculous, but it actually works!
When you are writing, and you're doing great, typing so fast, take a break. Go call a friend, take a walk, go to sleep, anything, just stop for a little bit. Why? Because we need to sustain our muse. If you finish that chapter, then stop, you’ll come back later and be like, “Wait, what was I saying again?” And trust me, you don’t want that.
But If you stop when you're doing great, you’ll be able to come back later and start right where you left off, mid-scene, and still have that amazing word muse!

I think this one gets some controversy but it works for me:When you're writing, do it because you love it. Not because "you should write every day" or "you should write regardless of your mood" but because you want that story to be told. When I do the prior two examples, I ended up looking at writing as a chore or I start hating my story. But when I do it because I love it, I showcase the best version of my writing, my characters, and my plot.
@Kylie Thanks!
