Catching up on Classics (and lots more!) discussion

This is the thread for the May 2026 buddy read of MaddAddam by Margaret Atwood

I was afraid that I would not remember enough of the two previous books, but I did enough to keep moving on. Plus sometimes the narrators remind the readers of how things fit together.

I will be starting Wednesday.

We did not have much discussion on this and I am perfectly fine with that. I thought the novel did not measure up to the first two books in the trilogy. There was far too much back story in this. I never could connect with the character of Zed and perhaps I was just tired of the series and aware of the time it was taking me to read, but this still did not take away from my impression of the series as a whole which I would give four stars. I gave only three stars to this book.

I will not be sure of what to make if the series until I reread. I do think that the threads tie up well.

I am thinking there is something about the narrator that I need to figure out--an attitude, a worldview, something I did not quite get.
