Read this in 2022, and I really enjoyed the parallel storylines and thought the ending was perfection. I hope you all enjoy!

However, in re-reading it, I think it might tell more about the book than some people would want to read, maybe kinda spoilery? Idk, but I use Goodreads as a book diary, so I think sometimes I explain too much of what a book is about. I do use the spoiler tags, but this review is maybe running close to the wire, perhaps. I want to tell enough so I remember, though.

The weight of legacy across generations is what stayed with me most. I felt the life and roles of the women characters were awful. But that feeling is probably more about me.

I just finished this great story. Oh how I love the legacy, the strength, and resilience of this people. The story had many characters as I said before but all are weaved together beautifully.

Finished the book, it is so raw yet simple and beautiful. Lyrical in its way, strong, wonderful, I loved reading every single story and I connected with them all. Masterpiece <3

I didn't connect with this one as much as some others. I think I appreciated the concept behind the book more than the execution. The parallel family lines and generational structure are incredibly smart, but the pacing made it difficult for me to form strong attachments to many of the characters. I just had a hard time getting immersed in this one.

I agree John. I liked how it was written, the time period in which it was written and the personalities/histories of the characters but found this had one too many perspectives pulling me from the story too often. In the end i am not sure if i went in with too high expectations for the unique synopsis or what but landed on a solid 3 ⭐️

This book was so beautifully written. Honestly, I could feel the feels and so many other things. So, why three stars? There were so many characters and timelines to follow that the audio book was not conducive to this full story. I had a really hard time following everything. And I wasn't upset when I missed pieces due to being chatted at/with by family.

I would still recommend this book as I do feel like the story is one that people should read. But I might suggest having a book and listening to it through Audio. There were some interesting twists in the story and the heart just hurts and should learn from a book like this.
