Hello The Poetry Spot community, I am Jamie Lee Hamann, the author of Science: Poems and Writings, and I am so glad to have found this community of readers who share my love of the natural world expressed through literary form. Science: Poems and Writings takes the subjects of science including the living world, the natural processes, the discoveries that expand our understanding of the earth and everything on it, and gives them the literary treatment I have always felt they deserve. Through both essay and poem in the same collection, I have tried to capture the wonder of the natural world in two forms at once, starting with the discursive exploration of the essay and the lyric resonance of the poem. For anyone in this community who responds with personal delight to literary treatments of the natural and scientific world, I believe Science: Poems and Writings was written for you.
