What book deserves a sequel or prequel but doesn't have one? What are you dying to know about what happens next/what happened before?

Mercedes Lackey has written about a bazillion books in her Valdemar universe, but the one she hasn't (yet?) done is the story of Need, the spirit in the magic sword. We learn the very basic outline of her story in the Mage Winds trilogy, but I want a novel about it!

For the longest time I would have said Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde, but they did finally write a sequel, which I still haven't read.

Or the Cinder Spires by Jim Butcher, but he also finally wrote a sequel.

Most of the series I would like more books for, the author is dead, so no chance there.

Ooh, I didn't know he wrote more of that! I'll have to re-read the first one first, though, I barely remember it.

Red Side Story, came out in 2024. But I also think I might need to re-read the first one.

I mean 15 years, been awhile.

Ooh. I am still thinking about this question. But I did read the two Fforde books, Shades of Grey and Red Side Story by Jasper Fforde. SO good. There's to be a third one, but I am not holding my breath.
