I guess I missed this step when I posted asking for Beta Readers before. Oops.
My name is Dayan and I am currently living in Spain, though I was born in Cuba and lived/grew up in south Florida for the last 27 years. I wrote my first work of fiction at 10 (short story) and wanted to be a fantasy writer ever since. Also wanted to be an Egyptologist, so I went to school for anthropology/archaeology and got a Bachelor's degree that way. Then off to teach middle school science I went, given the job prospects otherwise!
Anyway, I am here in Spain seriously trying to start a writing career. Can't publish anything yet (and make money) until the terms of my visa are fulfilled, which might take 2-3 years at the soonest. My goal is to have as many manuscripts ready for publication as possible and then release 2-3 novels a year from that point forward.
So far (7 months in) I have finished 1 novel (66K words) and 1 novella (25K words). Working on my third project now, cli-sci-fi, with no clear idea of how long it might actually be--but it definitely feels more extensive. Maybe it'll reach 80K!
Anyway, glad to join y'all. Will get around to offering free beta reads at some point soon. Wanna swap? lol
Oh, and my overall genre is speculative fiction (sci-fi and fantasy) that skews literary (with "anthropological depth" someone said, go figure), but all of it GLORIOUSLY queer. Straight people exist in these worlds, they're just not my protagonists, mmkay?
