For those who haven't come across it, its a collection of interviews with programmers from the 80s talking about creative ways they got around hardware constraints. There's a bunch of diagrams as well that show handwritten code for certain projects.

I find it really interesting that a lot of these issues are still relevant today in terms of memory budgeting.

Its an older title and is a bit tough to find a physical copy, but they are coming out with a 40th anniversary edition this summer.
