I'm Richard Pidwell, new to the group and fairly new to the weird-fiction scene.
I write psychological horror and weird fiction, particularly stories involving dangerous ideas, altered perception, unstable reality, and the ways information can change the people who encounter it.
My most recent novel is *Mindscript*, which begins with a mysterious manuscript that appears to know its readers better than they know themselves. As people attempt to understand it, reality itself begins to shift in unexpected ways. I also wrote *The Grammar of Attention*, a related prequel exploring some of the ideas behind the larger story.
One of the things that drew me to weird fiction was the concept of texts, stories, or ideas that have a life of their own. Books like *The King in Yellow*, *House of Leaves*, and *There Is No Antimemetics Division* all fascinated me for different reasons.
I'd love to hear recommendations for other weird-fiction novels or stories involving cursed texts, impossible books, reality distortion, dangerous knowledge, or information that behaves like an entity in its own right.
Looking forward to discovering some new authors and reading discussions here.
