Hi Curtis
Thanks for the links. I would love to help you but I can't delete a quote with that many likes. (song lyrics aren't meant to go in quotes at all)
Could you edit your thread title (only possible in the desktop view) to add [needs a Super]
Thanks.
I do not know if it makes a difference but Gilbert did publish the verse in a collection of poems latter. Many of the songs of the G&S operas were adapted from Gilbert's earlier Bab Balled poems, though in this case, I believe, this was created for Ida specifically. Here is it is in that form.https://archive.org/details/songsofsa...

Looks like a Super has been through & deleted the quote.
But you can re-add. Make sure you give the name of the book & I would tag as poetry or similar as most people know Gilbert more as a lyricist.
Thank you for your attention, I have re-added the quote cited as a poem from Songs of a Savoyard. I hope that will be satisfactory.

As you have a private profile, I can't see what you have written. But as long as you haven't put the name of poem in the body of the text I'm sure it will be fine. :)

The quote at this link is incorrectly attributed to Charles Darwin. https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/1412...
As this link demonstrates the quote, in point of fact, is from W.S. Gilbert. https://gsarchive.net/princess_ida/we...
