What sci-fi book have you enjoyed that you think many people aren't aware of or haven't read?

David Lutkins | 65 comments A few that come to mind immediately are The Complete Paratime by H. Beam Piper, The Rediscovery of Man by Cordwainer Smith and Citizen in Space by Robert Sheckley.

It's unfortunate that a lot of the past masters have been forgotten over the years.

Stephen Burridge | 244 comments C.M. Kornbluth is another great writer of the 40s and 50s, who died young. I read His Share of Glory: The Complete Short Science Fiction of C. M. Kornbluth last year. It includes a number of absolute classic stories.

Where the Axe Is Buried by Ray Nayler isn’t exactly obscure but I think it belonged on award shortlists. More people probably should read it imo.

His Share of Glory: The Complete Short Science Fiction of C. M. Kornbluth is a fantastic collection!

I agree completely.

Oleksandr Zholud | 1490 comments Also I guess Robert Sheckley is underrated as an author, maybe because he wrote often humorous SF and therefore people assume it isn't serious enough

Thomas (evansatnccu) | 280 comments Oleksandr, I agree that Robert Sheckley is underrated. "Pilgrimage to Earth" is sharp satire.
