Gerald Butler as the annoying guy.
Patrick Stewart as the owner of the box.

Hmmm. Murder with a Side of Shrimp and Grits is my book:
Jessie (MC): Zendaya (MC)
Norah: Angela Bassett (MC’s mom)
Tee: Sonequa Martin Green (MCs best friend)
Brad: Jesse Williams (love interest)
Maddie: Joey King (teenage waitress)

That title is hilarious!

My current read is Sojourn. I would have a really hard time casting this as a movie.
