Shark Week discussion

This is the place for initial thoughts about Steve Alten's sixth book in the MEG series up through the first half of the book.

I just got it on Audible and will start on Monday on my way to work, probably.

Not quite sure yet when I will start. Shark week start on the 26th? I should manage to start then.

Ok, ready. I just listened to the prologue. Did I understand it correctly that the lava tube is the inside of a (view spoiler)[155 foot long creature? I.e. the croc (or whatever it is) is stuck in the throat of another animal? (hide spoiler)]

Has Alten added Jason Statham into his book? It could be, this book and the first movie are both from 2018… 😂

Finished the first half of the book, I think with chapter 13. Some nice short summaries of plot points of previous books. Jason is trying to sell the Tanaka Institute, Terry is struggling with her health and David ends up hunting a Liopleurodon. I am somewhere around 3+ stars.

The cancer chapters drag. I assume there are some personal experiences from the author incorporated here, so my sympathies go out. I kind of like the realism/true-to-life element, yet I'm not sure it works as part of a thriller.
