Sleeping Memories
Angie Dent

A man spied a snaggletooth saxophone lying in a bed of leaves in a road.
Hope lifted it's head, uncovering its face, calling him digging down into his soul, pressing to look in the mirror of broken dreams.

Wishful hands wiped rusty cracks at its mouth before pushing to his lips, blowing as if on stage years gone, moaning deep like when you miss someone really bad, crying soft like a baby wind high in a lonesome treetop.

People passing by stopped to listen and dropped dollar bills at his feet. Couples danced close in streets, music of love playing in their eyes.

Dusk slowly spread it's fingers. He stood under moonlight shining, smiling with his heart watching old memories go back to sleep.
