Thanks for allowing me to join this group. I am a retired physician but my practice for the past 40 years was dealing with people who were suffering, not physical ailments, but existential uncertainty. They actually presented with real problems - alcoholism, drug abuse, loneliness, existential confusion, despair, depression, marital or family discord, etc. For the past ten or so years too many of my referrals were youth between thirteen and 27 - the preen, teen, and young adult. What I discovered was that many did not have the depth of values once given by parents or church. They were going through a rapidly changing front without the creativity and self confidence they needed to battle the unknowns. Sure many may have been given assurances, support, protection, and even permission to be themselves. I worked with hundreds and steered them to ward responsibility and self realization. I want4ed to join this group in order to hear what are the concerns and how you manage them because a tween quickly grows into believing they are adult while the parents still sees the child. I hope someone will respond and I will then ask the questions whose answers I wish to know.
