wow, i haven't been on gr for like 2 years.. so i need some book recommendations on what to read. preferably new books that have come out (seeing as i've read a lot of popular books already), any genre is fine but fantasy/mystery/ya/thriller are the main ones i'm looking for

Blood over bright haven - M.L. Wang. Dark academia fantasy. it has a brilliant magic system and amazing characters. Check the trigger warnings though before reading.

100 days of sunlight - Abbie Emmons, YA contemporary romance. Its super cute and feel-good.

A good girls guide to murder series - its likely you've heard of this already but its a great YA mystery.

I'm not a Shadowhunter chronicles fan but I really liked the infernal devices trilogy. It has the best adaptation of the love triangle trope I've seen in a YA book.

A curse so dark and lonely - Brigid Kemmerer. YA Fantasy romance. Its a lot of fun and a quick fast paced read.


Paladins Grace and Nettle and Bone both by T. Kingfisher if you want something short with good characters.

The 'Villains' duology by V.E. Schwab. Adult fantasy but truly brilliant if you're an avid fantasy reader.

Ace of Spades - Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé. YA thriller and mystery. If you liked the movie 'Get Out' you will love this.

For fantasy, I’d definitely try either The Way of Kings or Mistborn, both by Brandon Sanderson, or The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang. For thrillers/mysteries, I’d recommend The Spilt by Kit Frick, House of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen, and Five Survive by Holly Jackson. :)

Give Two If By Sea by Richard McCann a try if you like spicy thrillers!

For fantasy lovers, I'd highly recommend "Lyra Falconis and the Core of Tomorrow". If Mediterranean noir is more your thing, then "The Silence of Pantelleria" is the one for you. I recently stumbled upon this debut author, and she's definitely one to watch!
