I just added a quote from this book, but even though I selected "The Chimes" on the list it was attributed to another book.

Just saw that I missed one. I have looked but can't find The Chimes on it's own. (it will be there)

Ok, I believe this book or the action of adding a quote to this book has a bug.

The dropdown menu now no longer shows The Chimes as a standalone book - & the book hasn't been mistakenly combined.

In addition The Chimes quotes show some quotes for another Dicken's work - the Cricket on the Hearth.

https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes... I went through a few pages & couldn't see that an edition of Cricket had been mistakenly combined - & I don't believe that this would produce this result.

So this is a functionality issue - which volunteer librarians don't handle, but I'll contact Support in this instance. I wouldn't expect this to be a quick fix to be honest.

I heard back from Support & they did say that the bug had been fixed, but the changed might take a while to populate. They have changed your quote to another book, but looking through the dropdown menu I still don't see an individual edition of The Chimes & The Chimes quotes are still mixed with quotes from another book.

I'll leave this for a couple of days to see if this issue needs a bit more time to right itself. :)

Yet, again I have gone through all the Dickens books on the dropdown - & The Chimes still isn't showing as an individual book. & The Cricket on the Hearth quotes are still showing as mixed in with the Chimes quotes. & now I'm also seeing some The Cricket on the Hearth quotes (correctly) on their own.

I just have a question - when you add a quote, do you check to make sure it isn't already on Goodreads?

I can see in edit mode who added this quote - & the name isn't you.

This happened to me recently with an Ogden Nash quote when I forgot to check if it was already on the site.

& I've had a response from Support - after the usual jumping through hoops, I was told they were already aware of the problem.

Hopefully it will be resolved soon.

I usually do, yes! But it is possible that I didn't find it when I searched for it.

What intrigues me is that this quote has "—" in it, and that is something my Portuguese keyboard doesn't include. Is it possible that my quote was merged with this one? Or perhaps the link I shared is not the one I meant... I'm honestly confused at this point, I'm sorry.

The system automatically adds "—" I just checked Victor Hugo, because he was the first non English author that came into my head & it is the case in other languages.

It may not be the way quotes are shown in other languages, but this is site functionality.

Yes, I thought I had searched for the Ogden Nash quote I added too, because I normally do - but I wasn't sure. It came up with the tags I had added, but showed 4 likes. I think those were from the person who originally added it.

Hopefully the developers can fix this.
