From a CanLit perspective, I've been reading and enjoying Book of Lives: A Memoir of Sorts
by Margaret Atwood I also plan to read American War
by Omar El AkkadTwo new Canadian authored books dropped into my greedy little hands the last two days; The Strangers
by Katherena Vermette & Secret Sky
by J.P. McLean
Hi Bill - I have had a signed copy of Book of Lives that I still need to get to. I have enjoyed by El Akkad and Vermette since they had books on Canada Reads.
I finished The Memory Library (meh) that a colleague leant... I do like books about books BUT this one was extra light. I also finished Wildwood (one of our members)... I LOVED the characters... strong and resilient women and Canadian history... a great combination!! I am truly not sure why it took me so long to read this one!

I'm currently buddy-reading through Empire of Shadows with a friend. For Canadian fiction this month, I'm hoping to read The Spirit of Scatarie or maybe The Deal.
I also need to get back into actually reading non-fiction again. I have a couple started that I need to wrap up.
Wildwood is on my list of books to eventually read! Good to hear that it was great.
My first book of August. I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't realize that Monica Hughes, the author of the book, Invitation to the Game, was English / Canadian, living to the end of her life in Edmonton. Excellent YA / Sci Fi story, 4.5 starshttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I just finished the Infinite Sadness of Small Appliances by Glenn Dixon. It's described as cosy sci-fi which I didn't know existed until now. It was an entertaining read I would have rated 3.75 but had to round up to 4 for Goodreads.American War was excellent. I still think about it sometimes.
