Kate Danaher (katedanaher) | 6 comments Hello Moderators, Alaina in particular,
I just wanted to let you know that I received a solicitation about featuring my book, Unstoppable: The Victoria Woodhull Story, in your Challenge Corner, which was very exciting, until I realized it was a scam. At least I think it is because "Alaina" asked for $200, and I read that you do not charge money to feature a book. The person used the email alainajohnson700@gmail.com.
That being said, I would love it if you would have a look at my book. I received advance praise from Pulitzer Prize finalist and Woodhull biographer, Mary Gabriel, who wrote that my Victoria was the "true Victoria," not the one who has been "incorrectly depicted for a century." Victoria deserves better, which is why I wrote the book. She was the first woman to run for U.S. President. She was jailed on Election Day in 1872. Also, the good news on my part is that I have been invited to speak about her next year at the National Women's Hall of Fame. In the meantime, I would love to get more people on Goodreads to know about her. I just don't know how to go about doing that. Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated! Kate

Hello Kate,

Yes, that was a scammer. We don't send emails out to authors, or anyone, really - unless someone won a book prize after a reading challenge ends. You, and other authors, are more than welcome to promote your book in our 'Books for Review' section. We also do a BOTM, and you are more than welcome to suggest your book for our group to read. I'm not sure when September's BOTM suggestion threads will be up, but again, you are more than welcome to suggest it when you see them. Please see the links below.

Kate Danaher (katedanaher) | 6 comments Sorry to be a pest, but I clicked on those links, but they bring me to what look like outdated pages, for example, on books for review, I see the most recent post as being from 2025. Is that right? Do I just click on new topic and suggest my book?

There are more recent topics when I click on the link

You can do a "new topic" in Books for Review, but you have to wait for the BOTM to be updated (sometime in the 20's of each month). You can nominate a book for the following month. There will then be a poll.

Kate Danaher (katedanaher) | 6 comments Am I allowed to post anything in New Historical Fiction Release? (I have an idea—a guide book for new authors trying to find their online readers!! I feel like I need to hire someone to help me, as I think there are so many groups and bloggers. It requires a lot of research to figure out how to reach them!
Want a part-time job, lol?!)
