I don’t really have a section to classify what I want to say in, so I’m creating this. Here we can talk about what passage we read each day, or we can talk about messages from our pastors, or anything else related.

WHERE TO START.

I realize a lot of people don’t really know where to start in the Bible either as a new Christian or just one who hasn’t read too much. But we should read it everyday, because it is our spiritual food.
I recommend the fourth gospel, John. I think Romans would also be a good place. I would say any of the four gospels except for Matthew, and I will explain in a moment. Once you finish one of those, you can move on to the books of the Law (the first five). I realize they can get really boring (especially in Leviticus and numbers), but God gave us these books for a reason. Every single time before you read, ask him for wisdom and guidance, and it will help. So read one chapter of those, and if you find it boring you could also add on a daily Proverb. I’m sure it’s pretty well known that people say you could read a proverb every day of the month (there is 31 chapters), so you could do that to add on some more interesting stuff. It’s one of my favorite books. After Deuteronomy, Joshua gets really interesting. So keep continuing, and after Ruth (good lessons in there) then I’d say read wherever.

Now back to Matthew: I believe in rightly dividing the Word. This means that part of the Bible is for the Jews, and part of it is for the gentiles (anyone but a Jew). In Matthew, everything up to chapter 27 is technically the Old Testament. The reason for this is because in Hebrews 9:16 It says there must be the death of a testator where a testament is (I didn’t know this until a bit ago). Jesus died on the Cross in chapter 27, so he is the testator. It will usually say to the Jews or to the Gentiles, so we can discern. And even if it is to the Jews, that does not mean the Gentiles cannot learn from it. I a parent said you should not punch someone to a person other than you, that doesn’t mean you should punch someone either (like my metaphors?)

Anyway, this is my reasoning, hopefully we can talk more about it in later discussions. I also hope this helps anyone who is struggling with what to read. If you want to know what some of the books are about, comment and I can help (I still have not read all of them. I’ve just started Ezra for the first time).

Have a good day

WHY YOU NEED TO READ THE BIBLE EVERY DAY

I understand reading the Bible can just feel like a chore sometimes. I understand sometimes we just don’t think it’s needed, and we will be fine in life without it. But one thing I’ve learned, is that is just not true.
If we call ourselves Christians, we need to BE Christians. The Bible is our spiritual food. Every morning or evening or whenever we decide we are hungry, we eat a meal. But has your spirit ever felt hungry? Have you ever felt depressed or mad or just out of it? That’s your spirit asking for food. If we read the Bible every day, we will start to notice how much better off we are with it.
Every time I skip a day, the next day I just don’t feel like reading it and say one more day will be fine. So break the cycle, and just read it.
You have to go into God’s word with a wanting to know more. If you ask God for help he will give it to you.
If you need help getting into the Bible, I’ve made a section where I will remind you every day. And I’ve made a prayer request section. But always go to the Lord first, and once you ask him, ask your brothers and sisters in Christ and we can grow together. There is always more to learn.
