🔮 The Conclave’s Favor (Fallback Hunt)

When a hunt proves too elusive, the Conclave may offer… an alternative path.

During the challenge, each player may call upon the Conclave for guidance.

Instead of completing a difficult or overly specific task, you may:

👉 Complete the assigned task below instead
👉 Your book will still count as a full chain link

🎯 The Conclave’s Boon Table
🎲 1. Color of the Veil
Read a book where one color makes up at least 50% of the cover

Read a book with a weapon or tool on the cover
(blade, staff, gun, bow, etc.)

Read a book with a specific word in the title

Read a book where the assigned word appears at least twice in the title, synopsis, or text.

⚖️ Rules & Restrictions
⭐ Each Hunter receives 1 Conclave Boon during the challenge.
🔗 One Boon may replace one eligible task and counts as one completed chain link.
📣 The Boon must be declared before finishing the book.
🎲 Once rolled, the assigned Boon task must be completed — no rerolls.
📖 One qualifying book completes one Boon task.
📖 HOB Standard Rules Apply
🚫 Boons cannot replace Tasks #11, #14, #19, or #23.


🌒 Veilbound Advantage (backup players)
Veilbound Reserves may carry a maximum of 3 Veil Sigils with them when called into the main hunt. Sigils are earned while playing in the Veilbound Reserves and are available only to those players.

🔮 Each Veil Sigil may be exchanged for 1 additional Conclave Boon use.
✨ Once exchanged, that Sigil is spent.
🎲 Additional Boons use the same Boon Table and rules as the player's original Boon.
🚫 The same task restrictions apply.

Hello I have no clue what I am supposed to do from here. I know it doesn't officially begin till Sept. 1, so I still have a few days to figure it out.

I think we'll receive our first hunting instructions on Sept 1... Then we'll see together to organise the hunt :)
For now, we only know we'll have to work together to plan our books :)

But anyway, don't worry, we'll figure it out as a team :)

(Just for your information, English isn't my native language, and even tho I'm rather comfortable with it, I make a lot of mistakes and I don't always know how to express myself... Never hesitate to tell me whenever you don't understand)

Hi! Basically from what I understand there will be 3 tasks and maybe a bonus. We figure out who does which task. I have a different challenge thats similar.

Recently got Villa Coco from my local library and historical fiction is far from my usual Dark Fantasy/Romantasy.

I have something for the 3rd task for the Harpy :) so we've got all 3 for the bonus :)

In the Centaur description, it says we needs 4 chains to capture it... Does it mean we need to do the 4 ?
Also, sorry for the dumb question (that I should have asked before) but what exactly is a chain of books? Only means we follow the same task?

If someone wants to ask in Q&A. Today I have a doctors appointment then work so I won't be around.

This is what was written above: So yes I would think we all have to do at least 1 of each task.... And we may do 2 of a task but cannot do 3 of the same task. and we need 12 in total because we have 4 chains.

Makes sense... (I often ask questions to clarify things that should already be clear, I'm sorry about that, it's mostly because I need to make sure I understand and don't ruin things for the team...)

Okay, so... I checked my TBR for the next weeks, and here is what I found...

I planned The Historian and I think it fits the task...

I have one for this one... (Ender’s Game)

📖Read a chain of 3 books whose titles begin with three different compass-direction initials: N, E, S, or W. (Each team member must use a different letter.)
I for sure will read a W (A Wizard of Earthsea) but easily can find any other letter...

📖Read a chain of 3 books from which each reader learns at least one real-world fact, skill, concept, or piece of information they didn't know before. (Each team member identifies what they learned.)
I planned a non-fiction, so I guess I will learn at least one real-world fact... I can read more than one if needed...

Of course, I will totally adapt to your possibilities as well :)

(I don't understand how we're supposed to fill the SS, and if there is a specific order we need to follow to read our books)

haha... you are way more organized than me as to which book you are going to read. I do not know what is on my TBR until I usually finish my currant book. (Depends on my mood). I only read print so probably not as quick as the two of you.
Good to know you are going to do a W for the 3rd chain with the compass. So that will leave N S E.

I have no clue as how the SS works either.

I’ve been flip flopping between books. When I get home tonight I can take a look. Report back tomorrow morning with what I have. Also I love a SS so don’t worry

I checked with a friend, our SS hasn't anything we can choose from under Cell G (Supernatural Task)... Tho it should... I'm gonna ask Donna to have a look :)

I put the books I plan on the SS already, I'll add reading dates when I finish each of them... (Something was indeed missing in the Ss, Donna fixed it)

The Midnight Feast and The No Complaining Rule: Positive Ways to Deal with Negativity at Work are the 2 I am reading ... Not sure where I will put them yet. I will add them to the ss and move them around if needed as we all need to do at least one of the chains.

I don't have time to read much lately, but it'll soon be better (by the end of the week, hopefully)... :)

Pretty sure I messed up our SS, 😔 when I was trying to add something. The column with our names has gone extinct. Hopefully when you get back into it the SS will be fixed.😥

You guys will have to assign your names back to your books... someone unhelpfully deleted the column. Not naming any names.

If that's the case then I finished my read The Midnight Feast after Twitch's interference and it has a water element. I entered it under twitch interference and it took points away. 😞

I think I did that properly. If not let me know.
