Bruno Rodrigues | 19306 comments This is already in GR, in Invalid status:

I'm not really sure dictionaries are eligible to be in GR, so I'll leave this for another librarian to decide.

Scott | 5672 comments I tried to read a dictionary once, but I gave up halfway through. It was too wordy.

Bruno Rodrigues | 19306 comments I actually read a dictionary some years ago.

Spoiler alert: Turns out the zebra did it.

Scott | 5672 comments I knew it wasn't the aardvark.

Tawnya | 4981 comments Hugo, ignore the comedians. Reference books i.e. dictionaries, encyclopedias, etc. are valid.

I set the book back to public, and it can be found here: Dicionário Inglês-Português, Português-Inglês

Hugo, if you own a copy, can you please load an image of the cover and publication page? I trimmed the image that was already on the site, but it is a poor one. The one on Amazon (and Abe Books) is clearer, but worse for use as a cover. Rotating it didn't help.

As an aside to the other librarians, I was and am a very odd person. As a kid I would randomly read our set of encyclopedias. Yes, aardvark was first. What was second? Aardwolf. Almost 50 years later, and I still remember the word. No clue what the thing looked like though.

Bruno Rodrigues | 19306 comments I enhanced a bit the book record cover. Not a great improvement, another cover would be better, but it is better than it was.

About the aardvark, tbh I don't know what kind of animal that is (nor the aardwolf). Not something we find in Portuguese lands, or dictionaries.
I only knew about its existence due to Black Adder. And always wondered why its name has two 'a's. Is there an Ardvark that it could be confused with?

Tawnya | 4981 comments lol.

I was curious, so I looked it up. We can blame Afrikaans for the second A. Since even the language has an extra one, perhaps "aa" is a letter unto itself, like "ll" in Spanish. "Aard" meant earth. "Vark" is hog. One of my favorite parts about being a librarian is learning new things.

I do not know if you have children, but there is a famous aardvark named Arthur by Marc Brown.

GRs has a book about the aardworf: Ever Heard of an Aardwolf?

That looks nothing like the images online though.
