In August, I suggested to someone that they should read a book that makes them happy. So I’m saying that to everyone for September. Choose any classic book or short story that you know will make you happy. It might be a childhood favourite story, or a book by one of your favourite authors. It would be lovely if you told the group why you chose a book, but that is optional. Have fun!

I always like books by Anthony Trollope.

2: Summer Lightning by P.G. Wodehouse (1929)
I often laugh out loud while reading P.G. Wodehouse books.

Currently reading RUTH by Elizabeth Gaskell and, truth be told, I'm just not feeling it at all. Too saccharine, too slow, too maudlin, and WAY too preachy. Seems to me like it totally missed the opportunity to criticize the misogyny of the era and instead set up Ruth to do nothing more than accept the culture and endlessly criticize herself for what she clearly characterized as sinning.

Next up on my classic roll, THE TENANT OF WILDFELL HALL by Anne Brontë. Looking forward to it.

The Anne Bronte book does not have those issues. Just the opposite, actually.

September is always a Happy month for me because it is my birth month. Unfortunately, past 4 years this month is very busy for me , i can hardly finish one book. So i will try two very short works by two authors new to me, rest of my wish list I will shift to October which I do every year. (All groups read horror that month and I can't read horror )

I like your choices, Nidhi. No horror books in this group unless members choose their own! I usually try to avoid the most obvious themes like Romance around Valentines Day. It’s fine if that’s what people choose, but it’s better to have the choice.

The themes you provide have enormous possibilities for each and everyone to fit their desirable books in. That's what I like most about this group.

I read another of your comments elsewhere, Nidhi. I didn’t know you enjoy poetry. You are welcome to read poems for the challenges here. I don’t know enough about poetry to suggest suitable examples, but I’d be happy for you to post some if you want.
