On devices and apps that I've used -- Kindle, Hoopla, Libby -- it seems that they automatically pick up where I left off. If I read one book on, say, both Kindle and the Kindle mobile app, when I switch between them, I'm given the choice to sync to the furthest position I reached between the two.

If you mean how do handle reading multiple books at once on different devices, I deliberately select books with different settings, timeframes, or genres, so that I can keep them straight in my mind. I might choose a WWII HF, a contemporary YA, and a true crime going at the same time, but I would never read three WWII HF at the same time. 😳
