The Fall 2026 Reading Challenge will begin September 2nd and end November 30th.

Rules of the challenge:
Complete 3 books (or more)
Complete 3 prompts (or more)
Any genre okay
Rereads okay

This fall, complete 3 (or more) of the following:

1. Many writers have birthdays this season.

So this fall,

READ A BOOK BY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:

Tracy Chevalier
Ta-Nehisi Coates
Roxane Gay
Michael Robotham
Kurt Vonnegut

2. September is National Save a Tiger Month.

So this fall,

READ A BOOK WITH THE LETTERS T-I-G-E-R IN THE TITLE/SUBTITLE. (These letters do not have to be in order)

3. By Any Means will be released in theaters on September 4th.

When the system is broken, two men divided by everything agree on one thing-the law has limits. They don’t.

So this fall,

READ A BOOK THAT FEATURES AN UNLIKELY DUO.

4. Virginia Woolf’s Night & Day will have a limited release in theaters on September 4th.

A passionate astronomer does everything she can to avoid romantic love and marriage. It’s set in 1910 in London.

So this fall,

READ A BOOK WITH THE WORD “NIGHT” OR
“DAY” IN THE TITLE/SUBTITLE.

OR

READ ANY BOOK WRITTEN BY VIRGINIA WOOLF.

5. Tom and Jerry: Forbidden Compass will be released in theaters on September 4th.

From fast paced chases to stunning new worlds, the movie brings a fresh twist to the legendary duo.

So this fall,

READ A BOOK WHICH FEATURES A CHARACTER NAMED TOM OR JERRY.

OR

READ A BOOK IN WHICH A CAT OR MOUSE IS PART OF THE STORY.

OR

READ A BOOK IN WHICH ONE CHARACTER IS CHASING AFTER ANOTHER ONE.

6. Fall group read.

Exit Party by Emily St. John Mandel -September 15th.

Bonus group read:
Stay Buried by Jennifer McMahon (available now).

7. Random-This counts towards the challenge but isn’t inspired by the season.

So this fall,

READ A BOOK WITH A ONE WORD TITLE.

Please note for the random that titles beginning with the word “The”followed by a single word do not count.

Also for #5 Thomas and Tommy also work.

I listened to The Taking of Pellman one two three which works for T-I-G-E-R. I thought it was ok

Good job getting one done so early in the challenge. I'm just starting to gather and wrangle my choices.
When the library has a Playaway audio for titles that fit the challenge, that's what makes ne happy. I'm going to explore some of these authors that have birthdays.

I was waiting to hear what you thought of it. I’m going to skip it. Might still check out the movie though. Have you seen it?

I hope to read both Exit Party and Stay Buried. I have loved everything I've read by McMahon - I think she was introduced to me through one of these challenges many years ago. Sea of Tranquility is also one of my favorites.

I haven’t seen the movie. I needed a book that was made into a high grossing movie the year you were born for another reading challenge and I was excited that it works for this challenge.

I’m also planning to read them both.
Sea of tranquility is one of my favorites too. :)

They made a remake of the film a while back too.
